Dude, Cfas, that would piss me off too.

I know Midge, but it was close enough that I could see it. :) Need more spaces!
• Ouch, Cfas. That's a lot of extra debt all for not reading the fine print. I'd be furious too :(

• That sucks Cfas. I'm such a control freak about money that I would want to take control of the purse strings and not let him spend anything. That obviously doesn't fix anything though.

• Sorry Cfas, I'd be irrate and want to react as Adamar said even though that would most likely only make things worse. I like LTB's suggestion. Maybe even craigslist items? I don't know how often free weights and benches are sold there but it never hurts to look.
• Yeah, not a good morning for NC.
I spent all night trying to keep my dinner down because now I have to live with the knowledge that as I'm getting married next month, my close friends and other North Carolinians will be suffering under this amendment. I stayed awake for hours just staring at my computer, wishing that it wasn't true. I deeply love where I live, but this has totally changed the way I view the people around me.

At least some counties (thank God mine was included) voted against it.
• Sorry Beanie. I see how that's super offensive, but my gay cousin lives in NC and she's up against a lot living there.
• Ugh NC. That drives me up the fricken wall. People preach on and on about the sanctity of marriage, yet I don't see anyone protesting for the ban of divorce. Pretty sure as long as that's on the table, you're not guarenteeing "mothers and fathers" for children either.
• Well we keep moving backwards, Any, so I'm sure that'll come around eventually.

Money was one of the things that H and I butted heads about repeatedly, particularly before I found out exactly how little he was making when we pooled our finances. We finally came up with a system -- anything under $25 we could purchase without informing the other, so long as we checked the account first and made sure that bills we paid and we had enough to cover it. Gas money was also included in that -- he fills his tank about once a week and I fill mine once every two weeks (approximately). Any purchases higher than that, we had to clear with each other before we buy. It worked pretty well.

[QUOTE]GAH! Midge!!! Some of us have to wait until the weekend to see this stuff!! heya all. My friend posted this picture on her FB page: I thought it might an interesting survey to ask how many of the people involved in the anti-gay marriage protest were also involved in the civil rights picture on top. I'm going to guess a lot. While I am disappointed in the result in North Carolina, I am not the least bit surprised by it. Considering the people in that state... Not surprising in the least. It's the poorest, one of the least educated states in the union. Gotta love them. (not)

For what it's worth, NC is a such a demographically diverse state that it averages out to be the tenth poorest state but it varies so widely between wealthy regions and dirt poor ones. The region that Beanie and I live is one of the technology leaders in the nation, particularly in biotech. Our area is very highly educated as well. I'm one of the least educated people I know and I have a bachelors degree and a post-baccalaureate certification from Duke!

• I know this doesn't make it any better Muni, but I'm sending you a huge hug because I hate that you "ugly" cried last night. :(

I also feel like a jerk with my happy status of getting to marry my best friend in a month this morning. Especially when my friend, who was very vocal about voting against that ammendment, from NC liked it. I'm still excited, I can't change that but it's just not a good day for it I guess. Conflictions.
• Good Morning! Ugh my grandmother bought a new cake topper! I said, "I'm sorry you wll have to take it back, I spent $40 on our cake topper and I love it!"

My mom is being impossible to live with, it's like she thinks if we spend the next few days fighting she won't miss me or something.

Morning all.

MUN1 - that map is depressing. I realize population isn't really accounted for, just geographic location. But man, is that a lot of green.

I was surprised it passed too, the few people I know in NC were all against it, so I figured it was a shoe-in. Color me dumbfounded.

ETA: And wow...even the red counties mostly passed by a fairly narrow margin. Sad.

I understand all about the technology triangle around Raleigh. But my view is colored by where my grandparents lived-- Pamlico County. I apologize if you found my statement offensive.

I mean, I grew up hillbilly. I lived in a village of 600 people who thought black people were evil, gays and gay rights would cause the destruction of the earth, and any other sort of thinking was bad. So I fully understand that not everyone is bad. Unfortunately in this instance, it's the majority.

Good morning, all!

Beanie and Muni, I understand completely how hard it is to live in a swing state that swings because of the vast swath if political views. Missouri gets a bad rap because of it's super rural, super intolerant population and it drives me batshiit.

The only thing that's saved us from some of the worst crap our conservative-run legisltaure could come up with is out Governor, Jay Nixon, who was voted in along with Obama in 2008.

Oh and Midge, that episode of New Girl was the season finale, so there is no next week sadly!

I love that show, but that wasn't a very strong finale if you ask me.

• Morning everyone. I was disappointed by the NC vote too- I am generally conservative, but I dont understand how anyone thinks this type of legislation is okay. If it makes two people happy to be together, it isnt my business to tell them they cant be married.

I am so exhausted today, and I dont particularly know why. But after a hellish commute (my Metro line had multiple trains go out of service which backed things up) I really dont want to be at work. I'm also waiting to hear from my mom about my grandma's meeting with a judge about my low-life cousin. She is far too old to be scared for her safety, so I am really hoping the judge issues a protective order.

I know! My guide said it was the finale, but it felt so little like one that I had to check online afterwards to make sure it really was.

• Good morning!

On the gay rights thing, I'm annoyed Obama is still so wishy-washy about it. I wish he would just come out and support gay marriage. I am not his biggest fan by any means but I would probably vote for him if he just came out and said "Yes, gay people are like anyone else and should be able to enjoy the same benefits of marriage that Michelle and I enjoy." My respect for him would grow exponentially if he did that.

Biden tends to get himself in trouble by talking too much, but at least you know what comes out of his mouth is pure truth. Obama has been wishy washy on this issue since the '08 primaries and it really upsets the crap out of me.
