Re: When You Ignore the Etiquette Board: A Cautionary Tale

  • OMG i'm sorry, that is terrible but a well-told story. my MOH and  BM are having control issues (shower related) and I'm just imagining it coming to this....
  • Pictures or it didn't happen.
  • I'm amazed that no one else sees the giant neon FAKE sign hovering over this post. Weird.

Wow! Judgy much are we? Also the person who asked if they were all 12, I'm pretty sure the bride had nothing to do with her immature friends' little squabble. Anyway, it sounds like she's just posting an experience she had after ignoring the Knot's advice. Picking Bridesmaids and whatnot. Everyone makes mistakes and it looks like this one went as far as it could go. I'd be pissed to if as a result of my friend's drama they ruined my favorite part of my wedding gown which happens to be the train. And regardless of whether she intends on wearing it again or passing it down or saving it etc. The brats who ruined it need to pay, that dress was her property and they damaged it out of lack of self control.

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you! I hope that some good will come from all of this. If they decide to not be classy and pay for their screw-up, then just forget about them and move on. Even if they do pay for it, you can thank them and accept their money, but friendships with these girls doesn't seem worth holding onto.
  • I agree with Amyzen83. If it costs more to fix the dress than it does to take them to small claims and they refuse to pay or screw around to long in giving you the money I would take them. If you can get them to sign that they will pay by a certain date or you will take them to small claims. They ruined an antique dress because they couldn't hold themselves together for a few hours. If they don't show up if you take them to small claims you automatically win and they have to pay. If they don't pay you can push to have their wages garnished. Since you no longer plan on being friends with these women I don't think you have to worry about making them angry.
