Holiday Ridiculousness

So I don't know if it's graduating/wedding planning/ moving added to the holidays that's making me so emotional, but it seriously needs to stop.

Take yesterday, for example. I was watching Home Alone 2, and when the mom finds the kid at the Christmas tree, I cried. Like cried tears. For Home Alone.
Somebody slap me.

Anyone else have holiday ridiculousness to share?

Re: Holiday Ridiculousness

  • Nothing in the same category as that, but we did some shopping yesterday and bought a 'bbq sword' for one of our friends. I was going to wrap it but then it amused me so much that I decided to leave it unwrapped so I can go and laugh at it again later on.

  • When I'm working at banana and the Nutcracker song comes on, I can't resist, I must prance around the store.  Its like the ghost of christmas present slaps me in the ass and I have to move.

  • The other morning on my way to work everything made me want to cry. For no reason. Yeaaa

No real holiday ridiculousness unless you count my boss stating loudly to the waiter at our Christmas dinner that when the wine ran out to put it on our personal tabs which I found a little tactless
  • I cried at a hallmark commercial today. Not even a sappy one really. Its' the one where there's an adult daughter with a "we appreciate you" card that she keeps trying to give her mom but people keep interrupting. I don't even have that kind of relationship with my mom. I mean I love her but she doesn't support me in any way or anything, I can't ever see myself giving her a card like that, but I cried anyway. I'm gonna blame Aunt Flo for mine though.
    Leo says hi. He's...special.

  • tlv- hallmark and rice crispy commercials always get me. AF or not
  • Sun, I've seen that bbq sword! It looks awesome. If I had one I would probably run around swinging it and quoting the Princess Bride instead of turning the meat.

"cool......insult my size 2 body or my natural brown hair...or the fact that my parents own a country club, I have no budget for a wedding, and I have horses. I really dont care. Its better then having roots." ~ futurepivko
  • Yea, ditto on the hallmark thing. oh, and the folger's coffee commercial where they wake up and there son is home for Christmas.. yea.

Sun- that bbq sword made me laugh too. Don't wrap it til you have to!

shelly- your whole post made me me laugh, thank you

roxy- garbagebosslady had a Christmas party for her employees? I'm surprised, but not surprised she made you pay for your drinks after the wine was gone. Was it good wine, at least?
  • Haha she supplied 3 bottles of wine for the 11 of us. The wine was good. Thank goodness one of the girls had a preparty at her house so I had 2 glasses there. I ate so much I tricked one of my friend into think I was pregnant. It was great
  • haha, ohhh the food baby. I get those, and beer babies too.

Nice, 3 bottles for 11 people.  So there was enough for everyone to have like 1.2 glasses? How generous.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys the BBQ Sword. I have a feeling that our friend will probably dress up as a pirate and use this next time he has us all over. Entertaining!

haha, please take pictures to share if he does. I would love to see a pirate bbqing!
edit: I would love to see a pirate bbqing with a sword. We celebrate talk like a pirate day in September, so I've seen many a pirate bbq.

I haven;t had the whole sappy holiday ridiculousness, but the Lowe's commercial where she is web chatting with her mom and is really at the front door to surprise mom, tugs at my heart strings. A LOT.

But, work (retail) is stressing me out so much that everytime the craziness reaches a new level, I start singing my own modified version of " Its begining to look a lot like Christmas" very loudly in the back room.

  • Yes, she is so so generous. Ha!
    This was extreme food baby. I have always been able to push out my stomach (even when I've not just eaten) and look pregnant. Heres the lovely picture T took as proof;
    Gross!

I do not typically have a big old stomach for the record..
  • Mags- how does this version go?
  • Haha Roxy, you can totally tell you're pushing your spine out for that!

Cute dress- and hey, you'd make a cute pregnant lady if/when you are one!

  • Hahah thanks, I look forward to it someday and T thinks pregnant women are cute (yea, weird) so I'm good. I am not pushing out my spine much, My scoliosis makes thingsl ook worse :( Regardless, It's utterly ridiculous, I'm so stuffed.
  • mags- I know you meant chatting not shatting, but that made me giggle, because I'm five. ;)

roxy- that is a serious food baby. Might be twin food babies. And you are obviously tiny so it makes it even funnier.

I wish I had pictures of my beer babies to share, cause those are serious too.
  • Hahaha I wondered what the heck she meant by shatting for a couple seconds there.
Yea, its my only hidden talent. My friends reaction was the best though when she thought I was serious about being pregnant. Her jaw definitely hit the floor.

I only had 3 glasses of wine, not sure why my typing is so awful. Sorry
  • That's pretty funny.
Your typing is'nt bad, but maybe I'm not noticing because I'm on my second screwdriver. Aaand the third is'nt too far away.

    Was the party tonight?
  • Sorry its not the smartest thing in the world, but this is what happens when you work too much...
    (my lyrics are in parenthesis)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go; ( all throughout the store)
Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again ( look at the tables and shelves, they really don’t look themselves)
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow. ( there‘s bras and panties thrown about galore)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go; ( all throughout the store)
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well, ( there’s crazies here and there, they make me pull out my hair)
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow. ( and the line’s so long it goes right out the door)

PS.. I fixed the shatting and put it back to chatting in my previous post.

  • Hahaha thats great mags, love it.
    Whats with everyones random apostrophes?
    The party was tonight
  • I am on glass four of wine, and didn't catch that something was weird.

  • I am sure that your scoliosis is a benefit when it comes to pushing your stomach out like that! In any case, I think pregnant women look cute, too. My H randomly said to me yesterday, 'I can't wait until you're pregnant'. I was a little like, 'umm, what do you mean- the process of practicing or the pregnancy itself?!' haha.

I know I had something else to say, but I've totally lost my train of thought now...

I feel a nanna nap coming on, haha.

  • Oh, I love it. I've worked retail for many many years, and that is perfect!

And I did'nt mean to call you out on the typo, it actually made me happy. Again, cause I'm five.

I believe it is called alcohol.
  • yea I was gonna say my apostrophe use is the first thing to go when I'm drinking.
  • Yours seems to be one character ahead of itself, sunshine.
  • what can I say? I get a little excitable . . .

*sip* I don't think it's gonna get any better tonight :)

You can call me out, I usually hate typos and incorrect grammar/spelling, but as sun said.. its the alcohol.

  • Agreed.

Now I have that stupid "blame it on the a-a-a-a-a-alcohol" song in my head. Dammit.
