They have a chat thing on the right hand side when you watch episodes online (DON'T JUDGE ME!), and I was like whoa. How weird when we were just discussing that name yesterday. Is this a new trend?
I know an Aaryan (pronounced ahr-ee-ahn). His family is also from India. I don't think it's that bad though because the spelling and pronunciation are different.
But yeah, I do side-eye anyone who wants to name their child Aryan.

me too. if you try to go to tk.com it just takes you to that green update page. so they must be doing updates.
I hate apostrophes in children's names. I used to work in an elementary school where approximately 40% of the kids names had random silent consonants or apostrophes.
I don't get apostrophes. Don't people know that if you put an apostrophe in there, you're signaling a letter was removed? It's just so random and another crazy attempt for parents to have unique names.

I'm not sure what season it is, here's what I've been catching up on:
I was looking at baby names last night (just indulging the baby fever a little, haha) and I honestly don't know how anyone ever names a child. It's so freaking hard!!
It doesn't help that, on principle, I won't re-use a name that is a current, living relative. At least not someone we're close to and see often. As it is we have a sophie, sophia, and sofia between our families. I don't like repeats; it gets confusing....
Yeah, I like names that are uncommon but not "unusual"
I only once knew another girl with my name, but it's not a weird name, just not popular. I like that.
FI's family has at least two of each male name. But it becomes things like "John" and "Johnny" or "Bill" and "Little Bill" and no one is usually too confused

Yeah Sophia is on my side; H's side has Sophie and Sofia so I guess technically they're different because of the a so it's really only difficult for us, haha. It doesn't help that Sophia and Sophie are only a few months apart in age and were both flower girls in our wedding; so sometimes I switch them accidentally...
I am annoyed that I spent my whole winter break watching Law and Order reruns when there were Teen Mom's.
As for names, has anyone else been seeing really contrived , and I mean really contrived versions of common names? My checkout lady at the grocery store last week was named "Meyghann" pronounced "Megan".

I've seen loads of those; and I can't imagine how obnoxious it would be to grow up with that. As it was I have spent my whole life spelling my first name because there are several normal spellings and that was annoying enough without it being totally out of left field.
Did you guys see that post on C&T last week where the girl wanted to change the spelling of her first name to be more uneek? I'm not sure if the way she had it spelled in her username was how it is already, or what she wanted to change it to, but either way it was dumb...Kymburleigh.
Uneek spellings of normal names are one of my biggest annoyances as far as kid's names go. Ugh...
I am also passionately annoyed w/ "misspelled" names.. it's just so ANNOYING.. not cute or different or fun, just ANNOYING. I know an Emilee... awkward.
I really hope we get an update on "aryan" The crazy thing about that, to me at least, is that it DOES totally sound like it could be a popular name... it's right up the alley SOUND-wise with all the Jayden, Hayden, Cayden, Braden, Aria... and all those sounds... so in that sense, the parents were just going w/ that trend... I hope.
This is DEFINITELY a case where someone needs to point out to them what it REALLY means... that's even the same spelling.. I had to google it to be sure... YIKES.
Haha, I won't be naming my future kids anything that a current family member has. It's bad enough that my sister and my cousin (only 6 mos apart in age!) are named Elizabeth. Though that's a function of my mom & aunt loving the same name.
Mine is less common among people my age. It was something like the 2nd most popular baby name for girls.... in 1923.
And I definitely think you can have an uncommon name without having a stupid name. I used to work with a little girl named Princess. THAT was stupid, I'm sorry. She's a child, not a dog.

My picture isn't showing up
It was a chat thing where these girls were saying their baby's names, and one girl said her baby boy's name was Aryan.

Wait, not Bob. Because if you know my last name, that would not be good. Maybe Joe.
