Anyone around?

Re: Anyone around?

  • Goodnight Ciara.

I am about to crack open my Dr. Pepper in an attempt to stay awake - I didn't get my nap in tonight due to that Christmas party.

  • I love Swedish fish, but I haven't had them in a long time. I wouldn't think they have that many calories. At least they probably aren't as bad a chocolate.
  • OK, I have the final Christmas day menu:

    Breakfast:
Strawberry and Pineapple Bread with cream cheese (or butter)

    Dinner:
    Stuffed Turkey Breast
    Potatoes roasted in goose fat
spinach sauteed in olive oil w/ garlic and tossed with toasted pine nuts
    gravy

    Dessert:
Panna Cotta with Ruby Raspberry sauce

    What say you all?

  • I hate drinking my calories... but really, I only had breakfast (a bagel with butter on it) and dinner (with Christmas cookies, but i only ate 3, and a piece of cake) today so I guess a soda won't kill me tonight.
  • Sounds delicious aMrs - How long will it take me to fly there to eat with you?
  • edited December 2010
It sounds very tasty. You really have it all planned out, even breakfast. I am not that good yet. I have Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas dinner planned, but that is about it.

What is the dessert - never heard of anything like that? And can you actually buy goose fat in the store?
  • Sounds really good!

Loopy I hate drinking calories unless it is in alcohol or coffee.  I only like diet pop though so it's not too big of a deal.  But things like juice and milk I have a hard time drinking.

  • Missy the problem with candy like that is that it's fat free which is way better than chocolate, but they are high in calories. I think like 18 swedish fish is 120 calories.  Which could be worse.  But they are also really addictive.

  • Sometimes I like orange juice with breakfast.  But I pretty much always drink water.  I have a 24 oz Camelbak bottle that I carry around with me all day.  I usually drink at least 2, sometimes 3 in a day.
  • You know dark chocolate hershey's kisses are like 10 calories each.
  • Here's the dessert recipe

Loopy, it's about 15 hours if you leave from Lo Angeles, plus 5 to get you to LA.

    Totally enough time.

We are celebrating on X-mas eve since we both have to work X-mas day.  At least I get double time for it.

I guess I am getting tired bc I realized the whole sugar = calories thing after I posted.
  • sorry  - it's 20 calories - but still.
  • Loopy I hate dark chocolate.  I think it's disgusting.  H loves it though.

I have been trying to drink only water on this diet thing.  I'm sure I'll strongly crave a diet pepsi soon though.  And of course wine is allowed, and coffee.

  • and YES, you can buy goose fat in the store!

Last year the English Chef cooked us Christmas dinner and I was introduced to this delicacy.  Funny thing is, all the goose fat is imported from France.  I could have hand carried a jar across for 1/4 the price.

sigh  Last year I spent Christmas on a Mega yacht in the Med with a chef cooking (The chef cooked for the crew, I was invited)  . Not so much this year

  • I can't stand dark chocolate either. It is way too bitter for my liking. It is supossed to be better for you though.
  • A regular hershey's kiss is about 33 calories - still not awful as long as you don't eat bunches at once.
  • Yeah trust me, I justify eating them by saying they're fat free.  It says right on the bag "a fat free food."  Too bad it's not calorie free.

  • That dessert sounds decadent aMrs. I bookmarked the site under my recipes folder. Thanks.
  • You are almost to gold dnb.
  • Roasted Almonds are better for you.

More calories and fat per ounce, but the pure protien fills you up faster and keeps you feeling full longer.

  • I know it's crazy!  6 more after this.

Loopy, have you ever only eaten one hershey kiss?

  • Roasted almonds and pistachios are really good. The only thing with nuts is that if I eat too many they make me really constipated regardless of how many fruits and veggies I eat to compensate for it.
  • Missysue here's the main "article"  it came from.  It was a Valentines day thing, but there are plenty in here I want to try.

  • I have a bag of almonds in the pantry.  It doesn't do it for my sweet tooth though.

Thanks. I got that one bookmarked, too. I actually have a cookbook that has some of those romantic dinners and desserts in it.
  • I understand that.

H gets a big kick out of the fact that when I eat something spicy, I HAVE to have something sweet afterwards.  And the hotter the dish the stronger the craving/need is.

I've always wondered what chemical reaction was causing it.

<div>Actually, yes.  I get them from the candy jar on someone else's desk - so I just take 1 :).</div>
  • I like sweet and salty together.  Love kettle corn.
  • Yeah it's rare that I only ever eat one.  I am so glad I forced myself to work out tonight because I hate a ton of chips and lots of swedish fish just now.  I have a contest to win!
