i totally missed the memo that said they were black.  rue i pictured as a little blonde thing.  but thresh looks right!

lol.  Rue was totally a little black girl in the book Mandy.  This girl is the exact image I've had since reading the books.

Me too, Mandy. I actually pictured a skinny, pale girl with long blonde hair.

Although I rarely pay attention to descriptors when I read. My brain pictures people a certain way, regardless of how they describe them. I pictured Peeta as a brunette in my head, and didn't realize until book 2 that they described him as being blonde.

Those are perfect! In my head, Rue was Willow Smith, so this is right on.

Mandy, I missed it too. All the parallels drawn between her and Prim made me assume she was white, just with darker hair.

I totally pictured Willow Smith as a great person for this part (look wise), but I just couldn't bring myself to see her actually get the part.  So this girl works, she looks a lot like Willow, but she's not mainstream. 

I would love for this cast to be full of a lot of new actors/actresses.

I didn't know Rue was black either.  That girl is cute though!  Is her name really "Amandla" or is that a typo?

ETA:  Nevermind,  I googled.  Not a typo.
