[QUOTE]Beatles, thank God. I was starting to feel gross and freaky. But I also wear super padded ones from VS and they don't retain their shape if you wash them frequently. And I needs them to retain their shape or I kind of look like a 12 year old boy.

My bras are almost all this style (although not VS as they don't sell those over here- and to tell you the truth, when I went to VS in San Fran I was really disappointed with their stock as they didn't have anything super-cute). My bras are all underwire and fairly padded, although not t-shirt bra type padding (which does lose its shape quickly). It's bad, but I just throw them into one of those washing bags in the washing machine rather than following the instructions to wash by hand. When they start getting out of shape, I tend to throw them out as I've got more (I basically buy a bra every few weeks because I adore cute underwear, thus I'm always stocked up). I'd rather burn a lot of cash on bras than wear them for more than a couple of days in a row without washing, though.

All that said, the climate here is much hotter than yours there. Hopefully you'd all feel the same way if you were living in Australia, too (well, either that, or you'd be so smelly that no one would want to get near you)!

  • Washing them makes them lose shape. And I did hear once that the average life of a bra should be 8 months before you lose proper support. I have 5 of the same style but different color from VS. Once you find what's comfortable, why get something else right? lol. I probably wash them after 3-4 wears each unless I've been sweaty like pp said.
  • I'm way late on this.

Before AZ, I was exactly like what everyone else said.

Anyway, Monistat makes this Anti Chafing Gel Powder stuff** that I use where my bra rubs in the hotter months. The residue of the gel powder stuff plus sweat from hotter months plus (sorry to be gross sorry sorry) the worry of the potential for broken skin from the bra rubbing in the under area has me hand washing with woolite in the sink after one wearing and drying over the shower curtain rod.

Before 116 degree temperatures, I was exactly like everything else everyone said - washed them when I did laundry, rotated through a few, tried not to overwash. But the heat + the size, awful things were happening. I'm bra-anal now. I wish I wasn't.

(**which - for those of you into makeup - uses the EXACT SAME INGREDIENTS as very expensive primers that are so popular these days and works the exact same way on your face AND is only $7ish per tube compared to the skrillion dollar Smashbox stuff - look it up if you hadn't heard this yet).
On bed rest since Groundhog's Day and every day since has been exactly the same.

  • As a former retail girl, I try to wash a clothes (excluding panties) as little as possible. I know it sounds gross but it ruins even well made clothes. There's no hard and fast rule with bras like there is with jeans (3-6 months believe it or not) but if it still looks clean and smells clean, it's clean, maybe 2-5 wears.
