I hope not cause I opened a bottle :).

Re: Is it too early for wine?

  • It's going on 8 for you, so you're about an hour or too late in my book!

I found a really good hard cider in Whistler, and I have 2 bottles of it left in the fridge, and it sounds really good right now.  It's not even 5 here yet though, so I'll probably wait a bit.  I think we are running to the mall in a little bit too so I guess I should wait until after.

  • Defintiely not!  I'm about to start on my first glass, too!
  • H just got home with pizza. We have 3 bottles of wine here, so maybe I should have some tonight. H can't have any with me b/c he is on call. The problem is that if I don't finish the bottle in one night, it is a pita to get in the fridge. The fridge in this apt is so damn small and we have a lot of crap in it right now.
  • Nope! :) I'm drinking a beer and have some wine in the fridge.

So I just finished Water for Elephants. What should I read next?
  • FI just finished a bottle...I'm sure you're good! =)

  • I would, but I"m about to head out.  But it's not too earlyin my book, and it's only 4:45pm here!
  • Oh good :).  DNB - I was cooking dinner for last 30 minutes so I just sat down.

Birdie - They Boy In the Striped Pajamas was kind of good, kind of disturbing.  House Rules (Jodi Picoult) was quite good.
  • Ugh, I'm still hungover from last night and I have to go out to a friend's birthday party tonight.

  • I saw both of those on the best sellers list. I'm kind of feeling like a romance right now, but not a cheesy one. I'm not sure what to do. :-/
  • I'm pretty sure our dinner tonight is going to consist of ordering pizza.  We are pretty beat from our drive home, and I definitely have no desire to cook tonight.  It's pretty sad though that H and I have decided it's much easier to order 2 smalls in whatever kind we each want than trying to compromise on toppings.

  • I haven't read a single book since I finished the HG series.  And I have a bunch downloaded on my kindle too.

<div><em>The Art of Racing in the Rain </em>is really good if you like those animal stories.  It's told from the POV of the dog, so it's pretty funny in some parts, and it isn't QUITE as heart-wrenching as <em>Marley & Me</em>.  Also, Kristan Higgins writes really cute romantic-comedies.  They're not those super cheesy, Nora Roberts or Nicholas Sparks, but they're still pretty cute.</div>

Thanks! Now I'm going to become your good reads friend...
  • Birdie - Nora Roberts is my "go to" author for romance.  I'm obsessed.  I think I have just about everything she's ever published.  Which is like almost 12 foot of bookshelf space (3 x 4 ft. bookshelves almost full)
  • Beachy - we get two regular sized pizzas and have leftovers :).

Dinner tonight was cheeseburgers and oven fries (the frozen kind, not fresh) and wine :).  While I was cooking though, I put some chicken breasts on the foreman grill and made some rice and asparagus for lunches next week.
  • I'd have a glass of wine right now if it sounded good. Instead I'm laying on a hot pad on my couch because my back is killing me and this is the only thing that helps. I woke up to a pretty strong contraction this morning but it didn't lead into anything.

<div>You think Nora Roberts is cheesy?  I always think she writes a pretty good story.  I am not a huge fan of some of the more paranormal stuff she's written but I like most of her other trilogies as a light fun read.</div>
  • I think we are going to have pizza for dinner as well. We will probably order it in a little bit.

<div>Ditto this, I heart Nora Roberts!  I can't read too many all in a row because the theme that's so present across all her books gets annoying after awhile, but her books just never get old.  I loved her Sign of Seven series.</div>
  • Yay have fun Andy!  We had date night all week.  We are back to me being on the couch knotting and H up in the man zone playing video games.

</div><div>I LOVE Nora Roberts, I have so many of her books and I love how detailed everything she writes is.  But yeah, I often see her romances as cheesy romances (super intense, in love and engaged to be married in a short period of time, super predictable, that kind of thing).  But that's why I like them, they're a guaranteed happy ending.  I don't think cheesy = bad, I was saying that Kristan Higgins' romances aren't that kind of romance.  If that makes any sense.  </div>

<div>Nice!  I love GR, I've found so many books on there, plus keeping up with it gives me something to do.  If you like paranormal romances, check out HP Mallory's books.  I thought they were really good, plus they're self-published and I like to support that.</div>

  • I'm still trying to get over my Twilight obsession. I wish there were more books. :(
  • Yeah, that makes sense.  And yes, if you read a lot of Nora Roberts, you can see her "typical" storyline.
  • It was so hard for me to get over Twilight.  The Vampire Academy series was actually really good if you're looking for another vampire theme.  There are 6 of them, and there'll be a spin-off this summer.  I've read them all a few times now.

Loopy, did you read Nora Roberts' Circle Trilogy?  Usually I'm able to jump right into her books, but for some reason I can't get into that one.
