to invite or not to invite

My daughter and her fiance both work for the same large market. A couple of people they work with have randonly given them gifts, but we have not invited them to the wedding. The reception venue has an occupancy limit and the invitations have gone out. Are we obligated to invite people who are randomly giving wedding gifts? I feel like we should invite them, but we are alomost out of invitations and the budget is already busted. Would it be rude to invite them to the ceremony and not the reception?

  • Go with what Edie said.

  • the people who are randomly giving gifts completely of their own accord, probably because they are happy for the couple, not because they assumed they would be invited to the wedding. you are in no way obligated to invite them because they bought gifts. i would suggest that the couple thank them profusely and possibly invite them over for dinner one day, so they feel appreciated but not to the wedding  if you've already sent invitations and have gone over your budget.
