register??

This will be my second wedding and his first, do we register and have showers?

Re: register??

  • People are going to want to give you two gifts, so it's okay to register.  If you'd like to keep it small, that is fine.  If someone (like your FI's mom) offers to give a shower, you can accept it, so long as you feel comfortable.  Obviously, you shouldn't plan your own shower (regardless of if it's your first or tenth wedding).
  • I'm in the same situation as you. We already live together though and I got all the furniture, dishes and other housewares from my 1st marriage so we really have just about everything that we need for our house. Since we have a house full of stuff we decided to do a honeymoon registry instead. It's a little out of the box but so far people that we have talked to about it have been really receptive and thought it was a neat idea. Ours is through Traverler's Joy.com.

    Oh dear.

OP, I would be careful with this one. Plenty of people find HM registries tacky (essentially you're asking for cash because most cut you a check, some people would rather buy you a thing to "set you up in your new household" rather than pay for your vacation), so if you're already registering for a second marriage and worried about that, I wouldn't open yourself up to further side-eye-ing by going this route.
