Is it too early for a Harry Potter post? (with spoilers!)

Re: Is it too early for a Harry Potter post? (with spoilers!)

  • I felt like the lead snatcher had a Jack Sparrow vibe going on. It was a little distracting.

YES! I said that to Jay. I was like, "he's waaaaaaaaaaaay too Johnny Depp pretty to be a thick as a log snatcher."

  • I thought they downplayed Greyback during the snatching.

And why was Hermione wearing perfume in the woods? I'm not nitpicking, these are more like stream of consciousness thoughts coming out.

I think it was their allusion to the one that Ron got her for Christmas one time? Remember when he gave it to her and she was all "Ooh thanks, this is really unusual Ron."?

  • Ohhhh Georgia, you're right about Greyback. I haven't read the book lately, so I actually forgot that was even him.

And Alix, if it's that, then damn, they are too subtle for me.
  • You are an encyclopedia of knowledge! Yes, I remember that now.

Oh, and the cinematography HAS to win an Oscar this year. HAS TO.

Did you have any craziness at your theater? We had a Twi/HP group leading contests and stuff, and they did a costume contest, and there was a Draco (B), a Rita Skeeter (A- she went all out), a Dobby (A), a Ron (D- he just looked like Ron and had on a striped sweater), a Cedric (C), and an 8-yr old Hermione (A), who rightly won a cardboard cut-out of Harry.

And in their Coming Soon windows, the theater put all the other HP movie posters up and had Dementors hanging from the ceiling.
  • Mmmmm.  Johnny Depp.

Mrs & ZOMG we built a howse!
    being healthy. blog.
  • We had someone dressed as Hedwig again, it was hilarious. Along with the usual Harry, Ron, Hermione, Mad-Eye, Bellatrix. There was also someone who looked suspiciously like Grawp, but I suspect he was just huge and ugly more than dressed up.

And we ended up getting to go in and get seated at like 8pm (thank you best girlfriend) which was great. But other than that, nothing crazy.

  • Our theater was practically empty! My friend and I didn't expect US-style madness, but I saw HP here in 2005 and there was a line, a few people were dressed up, etc. So we bought our tickets online 2 weeks ago for the 10pm show instead of 7pm (we work right by the theater) to have time to eat and line up.

They looked at us like we were crazy when we went to scope out the line situation at 7:30 before having dinner...the theater was practically deserted. Then when we went back at 8:30 to actually line up, there was still no one, and in the end although a line did form, I'd say the theater was less than half full. It was weird.
  • Our theater wasn't packed out either. We got there at 8:45 and were probably the tenth people there that weren't a part of the Twi/HP group, and the 2nd people in line because the others were doing games and stuff. They gave us armbands (they had two screens, so I think they gave armbands to the first screen people), then told us they'd seat us at 10:30. So we just sat on the floor and people-watched. They ended up seating us at 9:30 and would periodically bring games in to us. I played phone Scrabble and my H studied for a test he had this morning. And the theater was just was just normal-crowded. I assume the lobby got more crowded after 9:30, but I only left my seat once to get nachos.

There were a TON of high school kids there.
  • Our theatre was PACKED by quarter past eight. We got to the theatre at seven and there must've been a hundred people in line so I pulled strings with best girlfriend and they opened the doors for us and we got in before the lineup so we could have awesome seats. Conniving biitch, party of moi.

  • At least you didn't push any children this time? I guess that's better?
  • I would've done that too, Alix.

I think we benefitted from going to the smaller, newer theater. The theater manager, although dorky, was ON TOP of things. He definitely ran a smooth ship. Last night's customer service has led me to make it my default theater, which is good because it's way closer to my house. We left the theater at 2:35 and were home at 2:45.

  • True. There were no hurt little kids this time around with an Alix-sized palm-print on their little faces.

We went to a huge theatre (not that there are any little theatres around here really) that we always go to for big openings and got out at twentyfive to three and got home at quarter to four. Then Jay got up for work at eight. Poor him. *evil giggle*

  • Ohandalso, Fleur's wedding dress? Can I haz please?
    image
  • S/O, I thought Bill should've been way more disfigured, but I did love the dress. I can't wait to watch it again and really take in the details.
  • The Harry and Hermione make out scene was a big WTF moment for me. Did anyone else think they took it too far?
  • Nah, I liked it. I think it was hugely accurate about what a seventeen year old Ron would be thinking were he actually jealous of his best friend over the girl he loves.
