Trust me, Chrissy, you won't regret it.  You can get vases and stuff for ONE DOLLAR.  It's AMAZING.

[QUOTE]Loopy I've never looked at C&B.  But I'm pretty sure it's like Williams & Sonoma in that it's way expensive for stuff you can get elsewhere cheaper.  But I still love W&S, and will walk around there and drool and how much I would love to get for my kitchen.

I love Williams-Sonoma.  If I had millions of dollars, I would buy all their stuff.

We need all new famiy room furniture.  Couches, tv stand, etc.  I actually want to completely rearrange the furniture, but I have to do it when H isn't home.  He never understands my 'visions' :)

You can buy Anna cookies at Ikea also, another excellent reason to shop there.

ETA: The cookies are called "Anna's," I'm not trying to get anyone to buy me cookies.

Also, I think J&K, you do the oil cleansing thing?  I did it two nights in a row and then not last night and I'm contemplating whether or not I should do it again tonight.  I don't think I'm really seeing a difference.  I did it to H, though, and really felt stuff coming out of his pores.

    Anyone else tried this?

Hey y'all. What are we discussing? Decor? We just bought a new bed and my parents got us the matching dresser and I feel like a real adult with real matching furniture.

And then some a-hole (MIL) goes, "Why are you buying all this stuff while you still live in an apt? Why not wait until you buy a house?"

I oil cleanse, TR.  I don't do it every day though.  I try for every other day.

I've never been in an IKEA, but there is an awesome bookcase I want from there if anyone wants to go buy it for me. And then come visit me to deliver it. Because the shipping for it was outrageous.

</div><div>Bahahaha. Because your apartment can't look nice? I'm all about making the most of whatever your living situation. I moved around a TON as a kid(in the same town, though) and for the first few moves we didn't hang anything up, get out the good furniture, etc. and it sucked. Finally we decided to make every house feel like a home and made all the difference.

Wow, Whit.  ILs still being assholes, huh?

Why do you need to have a house to have nice furniture?  I can understand if you had zero space and were buying like...roomfuls of furniture that didn't fit.  But again, how is that any of her business?

KJB - I feel no one ever understands my visions. I go Ell to go along with rearranging the livin room by repeating "if you hate it, we can move it back" about 3 times. Guess who loves the new set up? That's good, Chrissy! What did you end up doing? I am super nosey this evening, I guess.

TR, I think doing it every day is best.  I did it about two days on, one day off for awhile, and not much happened....but when I started doing it every day, my skin got worse for a bit, and then SO much better.  If you use harsh cleansers in between, you're kind of working against what the oil is doing.

Erin, one of my kids had a really rough day (like, Sheriff escorting him out of the school rough) while I was there to see him, and I did far too much paperwork and drove too much.

    Because she's a heifer ;)

But yeah, she thinks it's pointless to go to so much trouble when an apartment isn't long-term. What the eff ever.

Hm, maybe I need to start cleansing every day.   I'm so effing lazy.

Your ILs certainly are a piece of work, aren't they whit?

If you oil cleanse - how do you take your make up off on days that you don't do it?
  • Options
Nicki, I should try that.  H is always like "I am not helping you move furniture until you are SURE that you're going to like it."  He's figured out that I'll move things again and again until I find the "right" way, and he doesn't like it.

Whatever.  My mom's coming over in two weeks to help me rearrange and organize.  She understands my weirdness and she does the same thing.

Eh, part of the reason I don't buy "real" furniture is because I'm in an apartment. But I think thats more because I don't want to stay in this area long term. If I thought we would buy a house here I'd think differently, but I don't want to pay to get stuff shipped home so I'm pretty ok with disposable furniture.

Can you not take the new furniture to a house when you move? I don't like her logic.

Yeah. Is it special that has crazy FILs? Mine would probably match hers. Like the dog being allowed to sit at the table and eat off their plates? Or her thinking she can comment on me spending money on getting my nails done? Or his dad saying I'm money hungry?

I'm going to threadjack if I don't stop now!

I have moved things around a bit when Ell's at work. But with the art studio set up/lay out of the place, it's a challenge. And we have a lot of art supplies.

I can see that. We'll probably be in this area the rest of our lives. But the apartment isn't that temporary, because we have no idea when we'll be house buying. And I'm not putting off buying nice stuff just because an apartment is temporary.
