Firday evening roll call

So, I am officially a harvest-season widow. DH's winery started processing grapes today, so that means he'll be working 12 hour days, six days a week for the next few months. One of the few drawbacks to marrying a wine maker is harvest season :)

Anyway, I'm watching cash cab with a red wine/ diet coke mixture in hand. The wine was corked and not really enjoyable on its own, so I decided to try the RHWONJ cocktail of choice. Not bad! Not great either but...

Who's here? Watcha up to? Any plans for the weekend?

  • katie- haha, sneaky cat! My feet are always cold, so I imagine that hurting a lot.

    what movie are you watching?

I can't take anything because I haven't been able to get ahold of my doctor and being pregnant limits what I can take.

  • 10,000 BC for the millionth time. I like it every time though :)
  • I've seen that! (I don't see a ton of movies, so I'm surprised) I really liked it too. Super cheesy but very entertaining.
  • Hi there :)  I just got up from a nap - I laid down with FI so he could get to sleep - he has to work midnight shift tonight, boo :(  .   So I'm just sitting here, probably about to sail with the Captain and maybe put together some favor boxes.  I'll probably either find something wedding related on tv or some cheapo horror movie on FearNet ondemand haha.

  • I'm a fan of the cheesy films, they make me smile. I should be cleaning though so I have less to do tomorrow. I don't see that happening...
  • Haha same here, the most I did/am probably gonna do tonight was throw some wash in, mainly b/c FI needed pants for work.  I'll probably procrastinate until Sunday for the rest.

  • Psux- is this captain morgan you speak of? I can get on board with that. what are you doing for favors?

katie- me too! Love cheesy films that don't really make me think too much. If I'm watching a movie then I want it to be enjoyable and not work, ya know? I get my fill of analyzing from school.
  • I'm here and anxiously awaiting Four Weddings to come on.

I felt a cold coming on yesterday and I beat that bytch like a grown ass man and now it is gone!! My best friend has had one for over a week and that was not going to be me.

Chicago Classic football game tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Fingers crossed and rubbing a rabbit's foot.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • Why, yes it is  Captain Morgan - glad to have you aboard! lol  He's mah man (besides FI, haha).  I have 2 favors:

    1) The place card holder doubles as a favor - it's a cute little ornament.
    2) Lindt Lindor Truffles - the Limited Edition ones that come out in the winter...I love them but I forget the name of the flavor, lol.

    Here's the ornament/holder:

What did you have for yours?  How long have you been married?

  • Courtney I've been taking airborne religiously for the past few days, trying to avoid the summer(ish) cold going around.
Is Four weddings that show where they compete for a honeymoon? I've never seen anything but previews for it.
  • Oo Courtney I'm glad you said that, I just turned it on too!  :(  And I just saw a bunch of fish that look like they're going to be centerpieces....I hate that.

  • Those are awesome, ps! (This is what I am calling you now, hope that's ok!)

We did mini wine bottles with personalized labels. They were one of my favorite details! We got married on June 26th.

I'm jealous of your winter wedding! I really wanted one, but the summer worked out much better for us. Are you getting excited?
  • Hi!  I think I'm coming down with something so I'm staying in my bed while H plays Halo.

  • Thanks!  And ps is fine, lol.  Those mini wine bottles sound adorable!   Yessss I'm getting very excited - our wedding is on NYE, I think it's going to be a blast!  I can't wait.  Did you go on a honeymoon?

  • Hi Andy! Everyone seems to be sick :(

You and H are adorable, btw. And your kitty is pretty cute too!
  • I'm here. I'm a Halo widow. :)

  • What a great way to start the new year! Love the wedding shoes in your siggy.

Yup, we went to Oahu and had a freggin blast! Are you planning a honeymoon?
  • We didn't have the budget for favors but my grandma pitched in and bought jelly belly's in our wedding colors of Red and Orange and wrapped them in net and they were overall a big hit.

  • Hi Jas! We can wallow in our widowship together :) Any plans this weekend?
  • We just came home from a lovely evening at Lowes. FI is bragging to me about how he designed our floor design in Autocad to get the optimal pattern. We're dorks. :)
  • Aww thanks Sunshine!  That is a super cute pic of you and your FI.

Jas - he's practicing right now with ODST.   We are going to Best Buy tomorrow to get the new one.  Sigh.

  • Ciaram- I love jelly bellys! One of the few sweets I really like :) Aaand I think favors that guests can eat or drink are the best (could be biased here)

That actually seems to be the consensus around here - that edible favors are the best.

  • Thanks!  Oahu sounds awesommmeee.  We really wanted to go someplace like that, but we can't afford it.  We're paying for most of the wedding ourselves.  We found somewhere here in PA that we're probably going to book - a secluded cabin in the mountains (yet 5 mins away from a ski resort).  It has a bar, pool table, card table, have campfires outside - lots of stuff, but the BEST part, that I'm most excited for is the Jacuzzi out on the deck!  I think it'll be awesome to sit in the jacuzzi in the freezing cold looking over the mountains.  I've never been in a jacuzzi, either.

Birdie - lol at FI bragging.  Isn't it cute when they're proud?

  • I'm kinda here. Talking on the phone and knotting at the same time.

H and I are going to the park in the morning for a good run. Then home to finish the housework, laundry, etc.
  • Thanks Andy! I need to get on picking out pro photos soon so I can share them. The combination of procrastination and indecision is not helping me :)

ps- that sounds fabulous! Jacuzzis are amazing. And a secluded cabin in winter (with a bar, no less) sounds so romantic! We would have stayed in CA but MIL sooo generously paid for our honeymoon as a wedding gift.
  • We wanted to do handmade White Chocolate Champagne truffles but the money just wasn't there. But it all worked out and it was beautiful.

We did a long almost 2 week honeymoon. We spent 3 days at disneyland, 2 days on Rodeo Drive and then a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise. DH planned the whole thing and did a great job. All this was paid for and then we had some last minute emergency expenses that took the favor money.

I'm having a party tomorrow, 1950s theme. I'm looking up food. 50s food was gross, just fyi,
    You?
    image
  • Jas- Haha! I am imagining lots of red meat and lard in 50's food for some reason. Accurate?

As for the weekend, my town is having an avocado and margarita festival tomorrow so I'll be milling around trying guac and margarita recipes from local vendors by myself, as DH has to work:) He hates avocados, but I intend to buy some and make awesome guac for me for football on sunday!

Ciaram-that sounds great! That is awesome that H planned it all himself too. How special :)
