[QUOTE]If you dont like the poses or how you look its not really your fault - the photographer SHOULD have been guiding you through what to do, giving you atleast some brief instruction of where to stand, where to turn, etc. I think so atleast, if she hasnt done it before she might just not know that.

Yeah, but you should still be able to speak up for yourself if you feel awkward or feel like you're standing funny, I think the pose in the last one just doesn't look like a natural pose for anyone.  It may be the photog's job to guide you, but as the customer you shouldn't let them do anything that you think won't make for a good final product.
  • I really like the 4th one Whit, but I agree, you do just look really uncomfortable.  Hopefully there are some great ones in the whole 300 though so you don't feel like it was a waste.  But even if not, and you really don't like them, hey at least it was free!

  • Kate, I just didn't know what to do myself :)

Dani, yeah, I'm glad they were free for sure! I'd have been really sad if I had paid the $200 that she normally charges. :/

If it were me, since she is just starting to do these and wants to start doing more, I would be honest and tell her that she should try to make sure the bride's true personality is reflected (i.e. not making a bubbly, smiley bride try to look serious or edgy) and tell her that I felt uncomfortable during the shoot with the poses and looks she was trying to get me to do and that I feel like it shows in the pictures.  But I'm pretty blunt like that.  I just think it would help her to know what she could improve on, in a friendly sort of way.  Like Nebb said, it really is the photographer's job to recognize as they are taking pictures whether the pictures are good and whether the subject is comfortable and looking good.

  • I just saw some more on facebook and there are some good ones in there!
  • Navy, I agree! My hair color looks really two toned though, and I have no idea why. I haven't had any color put on in almost a year, so it's weird.

Dani, I think that's a great suggestion. I'll definitely bring that up.

  • Whit, I saw the new ones on Facebook - Amber is my photographer for my wedding so we are friends on Facebook. I think that they all look great but the new ones she put up are amazing! I remember not liking my engagement pictures too much but Amber's backgrounds and colors are hard not to fall in love with.
  • JMN, that's exactly why I fell in love with her too! I love the backgrounds and murals she chose to stand up against. She really is an amazing photographer, it's totally not her.

  • Yeah, we love her pictures. We actually won her services for the wedding in a contest she was having. We are getting married outdoors on the Mississippi and I think that she is the perfect photographer for something like that! Where did you do your TTD session?
  • In jackson, tn. We tried to do some outdoor ones, but the sun was so bright. And there were snakes! So we moved into downtown.
