save the dates

Just searched and found alot of responses about timing of save the dates if you are inviting alot of out of towners.. which I am... so that guests can make hotel accomodations, etc.  Most posts said 9-12 months, I am picking my magnets now and will allow a few weeks for shipping, etc....So I will (hopefully) send them out in June. (All guests are travelling 1.5 hrs + and even over-seas.) If I am reserving a block of rooms for guests should I include that info with save the dates or just with the actual invitations...or both? Thanks!!

Re: save the dates

  • We're including our wedding website on our STDs. The website contains the hotel information and where we blocked rooms. I would include it with your STDs, even if it is just a small insert. The point is to allow guests to make accommodations early, so you want them to know what the accommodations are.

  • I included my wedding website and had the block listed on there. I didn't actually have a room block yet at the time I sent STDs. My parents let important oot guests know where the room block was over the phone after we had it.

We had our wedding website on our save the dates that had hotel and travel information.  If you think that the website won't get the info out, you can print up a small card to send out with your magnets.  We received a save the date magnet with an index card-sized paper with travel and accomodations info for my cousin's wedding.

ETA: On our invitations, we have a separate insert with info about the next-morning brunch, travel, and accomodations.  We have our wedding website on it, and we also have a map of the area with the locations of the hotels we blocked at marked, and we included their phone numbers.
