I love this. FI has the same habit, and I think I would have found it totally endearing if he had done something similar. But, I wouldn't change my proposal for anything!

We had been at Disneyland for about 10 hours and were waiting for our Space Mountain FastPasses to be valid. We were on a bridge next to Sleeping Beauty castle, and he proposed with a ring from Claire's because the real one hadn't come in yet. After we got engaged, we went on Space Mountain.

When I first saw him pull out the can, I wanted to punch him, because I hate seeing that lump of tobacco product on his otherwise wonderful looking jaw.  But I'll never be able to hate those stupid green cans again because I'll always remember the look on H's face when he proposed.

I had gone over to FI's house to spend the night before we drove 45 miles to the hospital the next day for my Dad's second brain surgery. I was starting to get really upset about the next day and he laid on the bed to console me. After he asked "Is there anything I can do to make it better?" and I said "well there's one thing..." (we'd been discussing getting engaged for a few months), his face lit up and he had a big grin, pulled a box out of his pocket, told me all the sweetest things and asked me to marry him.

When I realized "I'm engaged! ...and that's how it happened..." I thought for a split second 'but he didn't get down on one knee...and I was sad...and it wasn't what I expected!"...but that didn't last long. It was us, and it was perfect.
