Who is hiding from snow this weekend?

I thought it would be a bit more busy around here because of the disaster currently going on with the weather.  Who's here?

  • I'm here.  Relaxing with a fire and some ice cream.  FI's watching the Texas/UNC game so I decided to hop on here and see what's happening.

  • We flew out of NYC yesterday and BOY AM I GLAD.  I'm lounging around in my parents' Florida house :D

  • I'm in and out--we're under 15+ inches of snow right now and I'm making cookies to pass the time.
  • I am here. Snow should be starting sometime soon. I am stuck inside today, Fi took the truck leaving me with the mustang. My luck the storm will start and Ill get stuck somehwere if I leave the house.
  • Mmm... cookies.

We have friends who are worried they might not be able to get back to England for Christmas it's snowing so heavily in Manchester. This morning, H and I woke up to find that it had snowed 6+ inches over night.  It never snows this much here, so everyone was freaking out.
  • I'm here on and off. My computer only lasts for about an hour at a time and then I'm working out and super cleaning. The snow has actually started to pile up on my windows and it looks like we have a good 16" at least out there right now.
  • Oh, it gets better: they're sandwich cookies with rum-spiked cream filling.

I'm bored out of my mind, though. I'm only a few miles from friends I haven't seen in months but can't get out the door to go see them.
  • My cousin finished her last final at 8am this morning but is now stuck at Millersville. Here, theres not even a flurry yet so Im debating on taking a trip ,to he mall.

  • Yeah... I probably wouldn't go to the mall, but I'm anti shopping during the holidays.  Worked too many years of retail.

I really thought it would be here already too. I headed out to the mall around 7am to finish up Christmas shopping. Came home and was bored so I tried baking homemade dog biscuits.

i'm not hiding. i'm enjoying. we've got a fire going and having our annual xmas vacation-watching tradition. wintry prettiness outside. reminds me of home. le sigh
  • The mall has been a mad house ately but I have a little more shopping that im anxious to get done. If the snow does come I probably wont be finishing.

Meg, just checked wnep, looks like we wont be getting any snow until tomorrow morning.

  • That sounds really nice Jill.  I'd give anything to have a fireplace, so I'm supa jealous.

At least none of us were passengers on the Eurostar trains that were stuck in the Chunnel for 16 hours!  God, can you imagine being stuck in a train, in a dark tunnel, under the English Channel? Eeegh.  A girl on the International board just got notice that her Air France flight has been canceled for Monday from Amsterdam.
  • Yeesh. I'm so happy the worst cancellation for us would be not having Dh's birthday dinner tomorrow. Although honestly I bet we can still go, if will just be touch and go on if my parents can get over the mountain by tomorrow.

I would absolutely panic. That must have been an awful experience.
  • amoro, it's the one criteria i really insisted on. at one point the house shopping endeavor was looking quite dismal, and h suggested i move the fireplace from the "must" column to the "want" column. i was all "nooooo, i want one!" :stomps foot: i'm so glad we ended up buying a house with one. we're so addicted to it - we use it every day.
  • oh, and i think i really may have died if i was stuck in a tunnel like that. i have a serious tunnel phobia.

  • A firepace is a must on our list for when we buy a house. I have my heart dead set on a study with a fireplace. I have recently convinced FI of this too.
  • hahaha... I don't blame you, I think they're fantastic.  SIL and BIL have installed a woodburning stove in theirs and use it to heat the house.  It does an amazing job.

I just love the feel of walking to that cozily warm room.  Mmmm.
  • A fireplace was on our must have for a while. Then our must have turned into "functional roof, no mold, driveway"

    Stupid houses.
  • sorry whomper. maybe you'll luck into one. it happens!

I think the funniest part of the whole debacle, is that when they announced they would be cancelling service until Monday, people freaked out and screamed and cried and refused to leave the platforms.

Seriously idiots?  You want to get stuck in the Chunnel too?
  • I just came back inside!

I got an epic amount of snow down the back of my pants as this picture was being taken. I just got warmed up and am about to crack a beer.

  • Its not doing anything outside here :( it sucks balls.
  • Present.  I have the weekend to myself.  Kids are at their father's and FI is out of town working until Christmas Eve. I'm trying to figure out what I should be doing with myself. NOT LIKE THAT!

Proud mum bragging moment:  I went to my daughter's first dive meet this morning where she took a silver medal! Smile

As for the snow, we have absolutely none. Zilch, zero, nada. Which is honestly just fine by me.  In my ideal world it would only snow on two days of the year, Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

  • whoops. our thermostat just broke. lol
  • Daff- The thermostat connected to your furnace?  I hope you're stocked up on firewood.

Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • yeah, that one. we have firewood, but we didn't get enough to keep it going through the night.  hmmm. this reminds me of the blizzard of 04 (or was it 05?) up in ct, it was like 0 degrees out and my boiler broke and i spent the entire day with no heat. that shiit was COOOOLD.
  • I'm here.  Watching UK basketball on TV and attempting to have a lazy Saturday.  We have no snow, though, which FI is very disappointed about.  I just watched Four Weddings on DVR, and I wanted to smack the Caribbean chick repeatedly.
