Who is hiding from snow this weekend?

Re: Who is hiding from snow this weekend?

  • Oh noes.  I don't suppose you can get anyone out to fix it quickly?
  • Is there an emergency line you could call to get someone out there pronto?

  • not sure? the roads aren't lookin so good.  murphy's law has a good sense of humor.
  • When we first moved into our house, 4 years ago yesterday, our thermostat broke too.  Woke up Saturday morning in the new house absolutely freezing cold cause it was below zero outside.  Luckily, we had the apt still so we went there to shower.  We got someone to come out and fix it ASAP, but it cost $500 which we didn't really have at the time.  FI got the realty company to reimburse us because it must have broke sometime between when we last toured it and when we moved in.

I hope you get it fixed Jill!  Cozy up to the fireplace.

Dude, call anyway.  lol... You never know.

Thank goodness you have a fireplace.  Maybe go out and get more firewood?
  • we'll figure something out. :)
  • And, check all your doors and windows.  Plug up any drafts to keep what heat you do have in the house.

Depending on the type of thermostat, you might get somebody on the phone who could talk you through a repair, or at least a work around to get you through the cold snap.  I replaced ours a few years ago - it was pretty basic.  You might even be able to google it.

  • No snow here except for a teeny dusting.  None in the forecast, either!  I'm hoping it stays that way--we fly out Wednesday morning.  We do have our one and only Christmas party tonight, though.

I am currently halfway done with our stupidfucking wedding invitations, though.  I am so sick of these.

Oooh, and I got a cookie shovel in the mail today.  Thanks, squirrly!  :)

You should totally post this over on Just Engaged. lol
  • We've got about 8 inches here and more on the way. Today's Christmas party with DH's family was cancelled, don't know if friend's annual wine and cheese party for tonight has been cancelled but we're not leaving the house, looks like Hanukah party with my family for tomorrow will likely also be cancelled.

I was going to paint our kitchen, but even though we can't leave the house, it's not a painting kind of day...it's a hanging out and doing nothing kind of day.

So I'm making my first chuck roast (I've never even tasted one before), we've got a roaring fire going, and I'm looking forward to playing some board games and just hanging out for a while. Might even attempt some sugar cookies later tonight after the roast is done.
  • I am seriously ready to send a damn Evite.

  • Did you see the post where the girl was like, "We probably won't get married for 2 years, but I want to plan NOW!" lol

What do your invites look like anyway?
  • Brie - Yay!  I also got a fun goodie - cookie mix!  What's up with your invites?  Are you putting them together, or designing, or printing or. . . what?

  • By the way, Brie, imagine your kitty's coloring on a 70 pound, 19 month-old boxer.  That's what I've got running around my house.  :)

  • Oh no Daf!
I still remember when we lost power for 2 weeks straight when I was in high school. We went through our firewood supply the first week, then dad started throwing in old chairs, boxes, scrap wood, anything he could find. I also trecked out to the woods and started chopping down trees.

  • Aww, I love boxers!

    Here you go:

    WOO HOO!!
  • Brie, they look good.  Take a break, have a glass of wine, and don't worry.  You've got plenty of time before they have to go out.
