TK Small World / IRL Close Calls?

OK so Amoro and I just realized that we both lived on the same floor of the same dorm at the same time back in college. Hilarious!!

Now I'm curoius about any other IRL close calls that anyone here has had? I'm sure there's been more. It's a small world, after all! :)

I've been hanging out in the bushes outside Fishy's house for the past year. Does that count?

Gina's best friend is friends with someone who was a BM in my wedding. Small world!

  • I saw someone's wedding pics (Jessiesgirl, I think) once and recognized one of the guests--turns out I worked with her new SIL in college.  She doesn't post here anymore, but  was pretty cool.

I got geekily excited the other day because Poli just graduated in the chapel we got married in and I saw the pics on FB.

Oh, and I do recruiting, and once, Jillnumbers got an e-mail promoting my visit to her college.  She didn't stop by and say hi, though.  Biitch.

  • Whit and I are totally convinced we are related SOMEHOW. My bio mom married a guy from Whit's area with the same last name. There aren't that many people in her town with that last name.

  • Someone on here recognized Nick one time.

  • Oh, and not TK related, but when I was running my half marathon, I got recognized by a blog reader, which was totally random, because I was at mile 9 or so and about to die.  That was crazy.  I guess that's what I get for wearing obnoxious lime green, though.

  • A couple girls on my local I knew IRL pre-Knot.
  • LVB I've always wondered about running in to unknown relatives online... what with the whole adoption thing. But actually, recently my sister (the one I posted about yesterday) found 3 more half-siblings who all share the same father. People we never knew about. Who knows how many more are out there?!
  • I have IRL connections to several people on my local, including someone being my sister's big in her sorority, having mutual friends with people, and having the same employer.

I'm trying to think if I have a tie to anyone from the national boards...

  • There's a girl who usually posts late at night who is from the same city as me, and was good friends with my cousin in HS, but we have never met IRL.
  • Also, I do wonder sometimes if one day some random stranger lurker will recognize me from here. Because that would be weird.

  • Oh! And one of my coworkers who is actually in the same office as me was posting on the boards quite a bit leading up to her wedding, and would talk to me about how crazy people on TheKnot were, haha.  She never knew who I was though, or that I was reading her posts. Heh.

  • No and it's weird bc DE is so small so I'm always expecting to recognize someone on my local, but I haven't so far.  I mean, I know I live close to a couple of people on here, but I've never seen them walking down the street or anything.

You mean someone running up to you fangirling and asking you for a sip of your margarita?

  • fische that would definitely be weird.

Apparently I've been chosen to have centered-text posts today. Nice.
  • YES BSA! That would be weird. But I think about that sometimes when I'm sitting in airports. I mean, I've posted over 20,000 responses on one of the most popular wedding planning websites. (Shakes Fist at the changeover glitches) The odds of rando strangers having seen one of those posts is pretty high, I'd guess.

  • Mag and I went to the same middle school, a number of years apart. I think we also lived in the same neighborhood as kids.

I work about two blocks from where MoneyPenny said she met her DH. It's probably creepy that I remember that, but I was all, "Oh! That's right down the street!" when she mentioned it.

    OMG, THAT WAS OFFENSIVE.

    You're getting banned.
  • My SIL's SIL (hopefully that makes sense) is on the local on the nest.  Once I saw that I didn't want to post there.

I have recognized a regular poster from her bio and pictures (we went to school together), but I haven't said anything because (1) I think she'd be weirded out and (2) I'd like to remain somewhat anonymous
  • LOL "beavermuffin" is making me giggle uncontrollably while coworkers walk by wondering what's wrong with me.
