I have been guilty of this once, but to be fair their express lane sign isn't with the lighted number like it normally is. It's a sign hanging from their 12 foot ceiling at the begining of the register. (I probably had 20-25 items in a 15 item or less lane) I honestly didn't see it. The cashier was checking me out and looked at me with a flat face and said, "You do realize this is the express lane right." She was so snotty about it. I said, "Actually, no I didn't realize that, but thanks for pointing that out for next time."

She could have just mentioned it and called it a day, but the way she asked just grated me the wrong way and tempted me to go back one time with a cart full of 100 items and go through that line.

I don't think 20 is really "express". It drives me nuts when I have one item and get stuck behind someone with 20+

I have a very limited winter wardrobe and an aversion to wearing pants* so my strategy is usually to just try and pretend I'm not cold even when I am freezing. I think your method sounds much better.



*I wear skirts and dresses. I'm not running around pantsless like Lady Gaga or something.

I wish people weren't passive aggressive about stuff like supermarket lines. I was accidentally in the old people/future mother line (yes, we have that line), and an older woman just told me, I apologized and switched lines. Easy fix. I was amazed though - most people in Chile would have let me stand there, whispered about how horrible I was and then made some snide comment as I was leaving the store.

Thats one of the reasons I do it. I am actually really lazy about what I wear but a dress always matches itself and is easy to throw on.

I think that's why this cashier pissed me off. Yeah she asked the question directly, but it was in a, "I don't really want to point it out to you directly so I'll ask you if you knew. That way it's on you and your stupidity for not knowing this is the express lane." If she had just said, "Just so you know this is the express lane, I know the sign's kind of hard to see, but just thought I'd point that out." Or something it wouldn't have driven me batty.

I do however make sure I avoid that line at all costs now even if I've only got 3 items.

Emily I was excited that we would now have one touch response from police, fire, and ambulance.  So my thinking was if anyone came to the door and wouldn't leave or something I couldn't push it.  Except the system is in the kitchen so it's not close enough for that.  Still glad to have it though.  I'm not jumping at every sound now.

Loopy - I was stuck at work late and didn't get home til 7.  Then H helped me finish up the box.  Now I'm sitting on my ass.  

I named him Word.  No real reason why.

Anna I've seen that one, and it's a good one.  I like when the secret ingredient is something I will eat (or in this case drink).  I won't ruin it for you though.  The one where the ingredient was toungue, intestines and something else made me gag.

I know, it is so much better when you like the secret ingredient. This is why I can't watch the original Japanese version, no matter how funny the dubbing of the judges is. Whenever I find out what the secret ingredient is I'm like "humans eat that?" I am also a notoriously picky eater though, so whatever.

Food.  And I'm hoping he's smart and will figure out it's a shelter.  One of my cats went in it, so I'm guessing he will too.  I put the food bowl that I keep outside right in front of it, and another small bowl inside of it.

I really am a crazy cat lady.  I told H it was better than trapping him and bringing him inside  I have enough problems with the last cat I took in.
