It's Sunday...

I work up super early today.  I think it's because I'm so excited to see Chef-D today.

Then DH and I are going shopping for some puppy stuff, a new shelf and I think some new bedding.   DH and I have been having cover wars lately.  I think our comforter is actually for a queen bed.  Which has not been a problem because DH doesn't normally use it, BUT now that it's getting into the 40's at night it's a different story.

Last night was a loud night in the city.  Lots of sirens and drunk people yelling all night long.  Then I started thinking about Chef-D and how he lives in the country and it's pretty quite there.   Now I'm feeling bad.  Poor guy might be so scared once he gets here.  Hopefully I'm overthinking this and exposing him early to the sounds will make it easier for him.

So what are you all doing today?

Re: It's Sunday...

  • He'll be fine.  He's so little he'll get used to the stuff.

I'm just hanging out, hoping to be well before tomorrow. UGH.  I hate being sick.  I slept horribly last night, between H snoring and groaning (he's sick too) and making weird noises, and Lucy waking me up to go out super early and then BARKING AT EVERYTHING I am super cranky.
  • Awe.. poor Snippy.   I would be cranky also.

DH snores loud when he is sick also,  So annoying.  And now we are getting a dog that is known for snoring.   What was I thinking?

I wish I could recommend a book to you.  Right now I'm just reading stuff about NOLA.  It's like reading textbooks.

  • I'm here, not sick or cranky, and I agree with Snippy that Chef-D will adjust.  How long till you pick him up for good?

Snippy please rest today, you only have limited time until you travel home......

Shopping on tap for me today also...need to put a fork in the thing called Christmas shopping.  Our neighbors are coming over for cocktails and pizza tonight, we have not hung out with them in forever.

Morning. I'm awake and it's only 6:30. I've been up for an hour. But we ate at one of my old favorite restaurants last night and ate like crap. I feel gross today. Glad I don't eat like that anymore. I think H is going back to sleep and we'll check out in a couple hours, do some shopping and head home. I really want to go get my dog from my parents. It's only been 2 nights but I miss her.
  • Good morning!

I'm sick, I can't take what I want, so yeah I'm not a happy camper.  Bleh.

  • Morning all,

I want to get a puppy so bad. I should have taken my chance before moving in with FI. He keeps saying "not right now" or "eventually". Right now our cat who is more of a cat-dog is cuddling with me so I will pretend she is a puppy.

I need to do errands today and the laundry I didn't do yesterday. Lately I just want to be lazy and relax on weekends. It's hard to get motivated to clean or do anything productive.

  • Ski, I am definitely resting as much as possible.  Plan to take a nap in a bit. I tried to sleep on the sofa for a bit, but our sofa is definitely not made for that.  Blergh.

I did just make a delicious sandwich with 'julbrod" (Christmas bread) pb and j.

Barrel, I don't know how I'm going to handle being away from Lucy for 2 weeks. :(

  • Oh Fezz, that is no fun.  feel better soon you.

barrel, where are you guys this weekend?  I so understand wanting to get home to your dog.  Mine is laying at my feet hanging out with me.  They are really sweet creatures.

Try a neti pot! Manda didn't want to try it either, but once she did, she got better so fast.
  • Snippy-2 weeks would be hard! We're in my old college town. We drove about 4 hours yesterday to visit my bff, her H and their 2 year old. Then we drove back about 2 hours and stayed here for the night so I could see how much had changed. I haven't been here since I graduated in 2007.
  • I'm glad Snippy, get better soon.

Snippy, who watches Lucy while you are gone?  She is such a cutie.  ::idea-I will travel to your house and watch Lucy and hang out::  oh yeah, I can't travel in plane yet...ugh,   Oh well, the thought was fun while it lasted.
  • Snip I may have to try it, I've never used one so I'm scared.

  • very cool barrel, how was the visit and the party?  Has the town changed much?

    Hi Petal...
  • I know a lot of people who swear by the neti pot but I have never tried it myself.

I hope everyone who feels sick feels better soon!

I was too, but it's totally worth it.  It really isn't as uncomfortable as you would think.  I use the hell out of it when I get sick.  If I were better, I'd start using it before I got sick!

Ski, Lucy will stay with the people who walk her during the week. They live right across from us, so she'll be in the same neighborhood, with people she knows and it'll be a lot easier for her.
  • It was fun! I hardly get to see them and we all used to live together so it was fun reminiscing. The town has grown a lot! There's a huge carwash... They're big city now. it's a community college in a farming town.
  • Poor Fezz - my sister said getting sick while pregnant pretty much sucked.  I hope you feel better soon.

Ski - we should get him in 2-3 weeks.  I would prefer 3 weeks to get over the holiday hump.

  • Hi All!

I am so happy that you get to see Chef-D, Lynda! I love puppies.  We were hoping to get a puppy soon, but now that our cat turned out to be a fiery hell beast I don't think it would be responsible to introduce another animal.

    Feel better, Snips!

Fezz, words can't express how much I love your new sig pic.
  • Feel better, Fezz!  I agree that sinus irrigaton will help your symptoms and recovery.

    Lynda -- I want a puppy now.

And now I feel guilty for saying that.  I love Berkeley.

Ooo   I just got excited. I forgot that DH is making dinner tonight.   I've been dying for some good chicken parmesan.  But have not found any I like here in NOLA or even in the islands.   Personally, I think the NYC and Philly areas have the best - or maybe it's just what I grew up so it's what I'm use to.  Anyway DH is going to make some for me tonight for dinner.

  • Lynda, I love, love, love...chicken parm, now I will need to pick up the ingredients to make that this week.  So yummy.

Fezz don't be scared, you are going to amaze yourself time after time as you do stuff you have never done because you have to "be the brave" one as a mom.  You can do this, we are here and ready to support you.

  • Good morning!

H's company Christmas party is tonight at the same nice place where I had my senior prom.  I have no idea what to wear.  The invite said "Appropriate Attire Required."  H is wearing a suit and tie, so I think I'm going with a LBD and calling it good.

I had to run out to pick up nylons and nail polish remover this morning, and who do I run into at the grocery store (while I'm wearing gym clothes and my hair's a mess)?  My ex's stuck-up mother, who treats me like dirt for breaking the heart of her little angel.  Um.  It was thirteen years ago and I'm fairly certain that she's the only one who hasn't faced the fact that he's gay.  Argh.

  • Hi ladies!

All the new puppy talk in here is making me get puppy fever again.

I'm watching Four Weddings for a little while and then I have to go get ready to go BM dress shopping.

  • So, I'm watching Gordon Ramsay Christmas show, and he says to rest a turkey for as long as you cooked it.  ANyone heard of that before?

    I just neati'd actually. :)

Nino's on Carrolton. That's some of the best chicken parm I've ever had. Nino is they guy who owns the place, and he's pretty much one of the nicest people I've ever met and certainly the most Italian. He knows his shiit.. He doesn't have a set menu or set hours, exactly. He just makes what he feels like making and then sells it until it's gone.

Hmm.....I always heard that if you rest it long enough to make gravy from the drippings that it's probably good to go.

I don't think it cools down much until it has been cut open, so maybe letting it rest that long would work.  I don't question Gordon Ramsey!
