  • I'm talking Oct '12 yes. I love that people equate a wedding website with some sort of assumption that everyone here will be super sweet at all times.

</div><div>I'm not sure. I am guessing it just depends on how your credit reports look combined with income. We just want to wait until we are financially ready to build a home that can be added onto, so that we will have ideally a spot that is our "forever home". We are content with renting houses until then. We want lots of land, like at least 10 acres, so thats why we won't be building for a while. We are considering buying the land first and paying on it for a few years and then building.</div>

<div>We don't want quite that much land (maybe 4 acres) but that sounds like our plan. Wait until we can build the house we want to live in forever. </div><div>
</div><div>My old neighbors found some land they really wanted, but couldn't afford to build their dream house on it yet. Apparently, though, the interest rates for building on land were way lower than just owning land. So they built a tiny little house and plan on tearing it down and rebuilding in the future. I always thought it was weird that the rates would differ so much.</div>
  • Erin, I'm with you.  My ex-fiance and I built a semi-custom home together and the all of the decision that had to be made were completely overwhelming for me.  As it turns out, I never got to live in the house so I have no idea how I did.  :)

  • Huh I didn't know that about the interest, Leisel. good to know!

Erin, I know what you mean! In my case I'm not too worried though just because J wants to build structures for a living and also be a consultant for home inspection type stuff. So hopefully we won't screw ourselves, lol. He idolizes Mike Holmes on HGTV.

  • Erin, my grandparents had a log cabin built and the process was an absolutely nightmare. They still talk about how stressful it was.

Musu - what they don't realise is that internet anonymity makes people MORE mean, not less mean.

<div>It sounds like he actually knows what he's doing, then. H thinks he's an expert on all things building related. I assure you, he is not. We will be consulting with actual experts when that time comes, haha.</div>
  • Hey ladies.  I opened this thread expecting to read a love fest.  But I've only read this page when I realized it wasn't because I'm lazy.

Where was the month board drama?  In this thread?

I made pizza on wheat tortilla wraps and they are in the oven right now, so we'll see how they turn out.  It's a first for me, and I'm trying to cut back on carbs so we'll see how it goes.

  • I know everyone kind of says this, but I really don't think I'm much different IRL. I'm not always the nicest person. Like yesterday I was bitching about my uncle and how he needed to "nut up" and parent his kids, and I think my mom's friends were kind of taken aback at my abrasiveness, haha.

<div>H finished my parents basement. There was one water pipe that went into the bathroom where the sink was supposed to go. He was going to add some sort of splitter thing so that we could have a kitchen sink on the other side of the wall. It should have been a 30 minute job. Turns out he had no idea wtf he was doing and we couldn't turn our water on for hours. Thankfully my friend's father is a plumber and he came out to help us. We would have been so screwed otherwise haha. </div>

</div><div>Haha, thats cute. About your H, I mean. J is getting his dual degree in Civil Engineering (with Structural emphasis) and Physics, so he basically can explain any random object to me and why it moves the way it does or the physics of how it is built. He is insane, basically. </div><div>

</div><div>Beachy --- Oct 2012 board, but on their actual board. Mbuckley was the drama llama that we all went to play with. </div>

  • Beachy - let me know how those turn out. I use flatbread because it's thicker - but using a wrap of some kind would really cut the calories down.

</div><div>I'll love fest you Beachy! You've been cracking me up lately. :) Tortilla pizza sounds good. This last hour of working is killing me, with all this food talk.

  • Musu, I used to work with our structural engineers and when I made a comment about the structural integrity of something having been compromised, I knew I had been around them too long.  :)

Erin, I'll take current H over that house any day.  Things worked out just as they should have.  (Still, that kitchen would have been nice).

<div>Unless you want to make a new thread, we might as well. It might be getting a bit too far down the page - which I know annoys some people. </div>
  • aw fine i'll start a new one.
