My fiance and I got engaged, which was seen as a competition to his best man. His best man went to look at engagment rings about two weeks later. He then told me to my face that his girlfriend thought the way my fiance proposed was "gay". So then he started planning how his proposal would be better than ours, and told me everytime he had a "better idea" than my fiance. So they got engaged.
At this point, my fiance and I have picked out the venue, booked the date, got the caterer, got the dress, got the rings, etc... One of our good friends also got engaged at the same time as us, and picked the exact same date. Needless to say, I was upset because we booked our venue first and had announced it to all of our friends. The best man was very nice and listened to me complain about how this is going to cause all of our friends to have to choose between weddings.
Then the best man announced the wedding date that they just "randomly picked" - OUR FIRST ANNIVERSARY. He wants to get married exactly one year from our wedding. Further, he wants to have the wedding in Hawaii, and expects me and my fiance to be there (my fiance will be the best man). So now, after paying for our wedding and honeymoon, he is asking us to spend thousands of dollars to go to his wedding knowing that my fiance is unemployed and I'm a student.
How do I tell him that his wedding date upsets me and my fiance? And how do I tell him that there is no way that we can go to his wedding in Hawaii?
