Glee? (spoiler warning!)

Re: Glee? (spoiler warning!)

  • If I were judging, VA would have clearly won.  Their routine was more challenging and choreographed MUCH better.

  • If it were real judgeing they would never have had a staff member from a competing school on the panel ;)

I actually liked the way they did Quinn's birthing scene. I had heard it was going to happen during the finale and was wondering how they were going to fit everything in. I don't think she would have been at school the next day but I thought they did a good job of it.

I feel strange about the Shelby storyline though. I feel like she went from Not Existing to Wants Rachel to Finds Rachel to Doesn't Want Rachel to Beth's Mom way too fast. Kind of ..."wtf just happened?"
  • Oh yeah, the plot definitely leaves tons to be desired, but I don't care since I like the music and love seeing well known bway people on tv.

And I do think that the way they juxtaposed the birthing scene and Bohemian Rhapsody was a good idea...in theory, moreso.  But it was still interesting, no matter how un realistic.

[QUOTE]WTF was that key change at the end of Don't Stop Believing?? Music geeks, does anyone understand the point of that?

It's called modulation, and when you go up a note (as they did in Glee), you increase the energy of the song.  It does work, and I thought the Glee kids doing so was consistent with their "we have heart" performance.

Um, thanks, I know what it is.

My comment was more because the modulation came out of nowhere and didn't really have any pivot chords to make it more smooth.  And it goes to another key, not a note.

I personally don't think a random modulation increases energy...it's more effective when it's built up a bit more.

Oh, and I completely disagree that some random Barry Manilow modulation gives them more 'heart'.
