need menu help!

We're printing our own menus onto card stock.
We're having a buffet and all the items will be listed on our menu, but what about the drinks?  We're picking up the tab for water (obviously), soda, domestic beer, house wines, and a signature drink.

I think that the drink options should be printed on the menu (even the alcohol ones) but my "insistant know-it-all" Mother doesn't seem to think so.

What's proper etiquette for this???

Those are pretty standard drink options, I don't think they need to be including on the menu. You might consider putting your signature drink and ingredients on there though, because I would think people wouldn't know about that one.

  • I would put the alcohol on a sign for the bar.

Ditto opal. It's unlikely that people will carry their menus with them to the bar, so if you want to list drink options, it makes more sense to have them displayed there.

  • You definitely don't need the drinks on there.  Like PPs said you could add a list at the bar.

  • Definitely put a sign at the bar.  No need to mix it with the food.

RIP Dr. Irving Fishman - 10/1/19-7/25/10 - thank you for holding on for me.
You made my wedding day complete.
  • I like to know what the alcohol options are.  I'll go for a semi-dry red but not a dry one with lots of tannins, and if the beer is Natty Lite or PBR I'll get a white wine instead.  We did a separate bar menu.
  • I think the bar menu at the bar would be fine, but I don't see the harm in putting the ingredients for the signature drink on the menu. This might help speed things up at the bar and it might help the bartender not have to answer the question "what's in that" over and over.
