Oh god, here it comes. I feel bad for our fiances, we're mean hateful biitches. Blah blah blah. You're not the first to ask a question like this and get the answers you received, you certainly won't be the last.
Your simple answer is that yes, the things you suggested are rude. We gave you solutions. Allow me to summarize them:
1. Politely decline a shower 2. Don't do a money tree. A card box is acceptable. 3. Don't mention gifts at all 4. Don't register, people will get the hint that you want cash. You can also have relatives politely tell inquirers that you and your fiance are saving for a honeymoon. 5. Don't do a honeymoon registry. See number 4.
You just didn't like what we told you because deep down, you've already decorated that money tree and its accompanying "CASH HERE!!!!" sign in your head. It's fine to want cash, but we're telling you polite ways to hint at your desire for cash.
If all else fails, register at BB&B, they have a cash back policy on registry gifts. Just return what you don't need.

Re: Money tree...
Your simple answer is that yes, the things you suggested are rude. We gave you solutions. Allow me to summarize them:
1. Politely decline a shower
2. Don't do a money tree. A card box is acceptable.
3. Don't mention gifts at all
