Good morning!

Re: Good morning!

  • Morning.

I'm going into work in a few. Right now I'm just watching the pup play while everyone else is sleeping. I'm kind-of jealous of them. I've been up since 5am and taking Chef-D on 2 walks already.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • Black mid to upper calf boots.

Apparently everyone and their brother called out of work today. I would have loved to get that memo so I could have drank more.

  • Oh hi guys! I am sitting in my pj's, drinking coffee with the grams! H went off to a museum with my uncle and grandpa and step father and cousin. Hopefully he comes back alive! I'm having a great time and I wanna staaaaaaaaaaay! I was supposed to meet up with LC today but I haven't heard from her. I'm sure she's still with her family though.
  • Glad you're having such a good time, Snippy!

Rosie, your CW is a douchecanoe and he can suck it. I'm sure your boots are fabulous.

  • Bay, how did your H handle his insane work schedule? And I agree about Rosie's cw
  • That's horrible, LTB. :( Maybe congratulate the happy mom off-line (even just a FBPM)?
  • Oh man ltb. That's horrible. Can't imagine having to announce that on fb.
  • Oh, LTB, that's terrible. That poor woman. :(

Snippy, he handled it better than I would. He had two 16-hour days and then one 8-hour day on Christmas, so he got to my parents' house late and opened all of his presents in the afternoon (we left some presents for later so he wouldn't be sitting there by himself like the guest of honor at a birthday party, all awkward). He had yesterday off, so he got to sleep in and we were able to spend the day together. Today he's working another 16 hour day, but he doesn't have to be in work tomorrow until 11, and it's only 8 hours tomorrow...so that's not terrible.

And he's tearing up the HG series on my Kindle! He finished HG on Christmas Day and he's into CF already. I'm so proud.

  • Morning. Mr. I-Never-Ever-Get-Sick is working on his second cold of the season. Since being sick is such a foreign concept to my husband, he's extra whiny. He had to go to work this morning, then he's going to swing by my parents' house and pick up our new snowblower. They told me it was a little one, but it's enormous.

[QUOTE]In other news, I have a dumb question because I'm too lazy to go to a store. A duvet cover is pretty thin right? And should be relatively easy to wash? I hate washing our comforter because its huge and takes forever to dry. It's impossible to kick the cats out of bed with us, so I was thinking if we got a duvet at least that might be easier to wash and I could was the insert part less frequently.

Yup. Good plan.

  • Awww, Special. Sorry about your H. Most of them are pretty whiny when they get sick.

LTB, yeah, we have a queen-size duvet and the covers are pretty easy to wash; I've just thrown them in with the sheets.

  • Good morning. I'm just sitting here watching it snow outside. It looks so pretty. I will not be going out to play in it though. We went shopping yesterday and I got some pretty good deals including a new Coach purse.

  • LTB -- yes, we have a duvet cover, and I wash it with the other sheets.

Beanie -- If you are not able to keep anything down and are actually seeing the whole pills come back up when you are vomiting, it can affect/reduce the efficacy of the birth control pills for that cycle. The silver lining is that if you are that nauseated, you probably aren't having sex, so the net effect is about even. :P
  • Beanie -

I think you're supposed to just keeping the pills as normal, but use alternate protection for 7 days.

    LTB* -

Duvets usually go over a down comforter, but you could even put one over the comforter you already own.

    ETA: LTP, not LVB.

  • LTB, you can use anything for the insert, but most people just get a plain white comforter. You can get them cheap at any big box store.

  • LTB, yes, you usually use a white duvet in it. However, if you have a dark colored cover, you may be able to use your existing comforter with the cover over it. I did that for a while after I horribly stained my comforter (roommate's dog + Sharpie = giant mess) and couldn't afford a new one.
  • I got an all black one with leather handles long enough to go on my shoulder. I don't know what it is called. All I know was it was a great sale and I should have bought another.

  • Can I do a PSA to say that LTB =/= LVB?

  • Thanks Birdie. The same thought was flashing through my brain.

LTB -- I have a plain white down comforter. There's no point in paying extra for a color/print comforter when it's being covered by the duvet. Some nice duvet perks are: the duvet covers extend the lifespan of the comforter and they allow for cheaper and easier decor changes.
  • We got a duvet and comforter from my bridal shower. I like it because it's easy to clean, but the duvet is larger than the comforter, so the comforter slips around in it a lot. I haven't figured out how to fix that yet.
  • Birdie - you can buy these clip things that go in the inside corners of the duvet and attach to the comforter. (Depending on the size difference of course)

  • When's the cruise, Adamar? March?
  • Yep, we're going the week of my spring break. I wish I could just fast forward to that week.

  • Good morning everyone. I'm feeling like crud this morning :(

I'm glad Tuesday is one of my days off from work this week.

I have to ask you ladies: Am I wrong to side-eye an engagement between someone who JUST turned 18 and her 43 year old FI?

She turned 18 on Nov. 11 and they got engaged Dec. 24... and she is not a mature 18 year old by any means (we both compete in the same sport and when she loses, she throws a fit like a 5 year old... she actually was fired by my old boss for that reason). I'm just astounded...

(As are a lot of people, apparently, based on his FB comments like "I am older.. lol.. but we've been the topic of conversation because of it for a couple months. It doesn't matter really." And he refused to give his age for a long time... a bunch of her />18 friends pestered and he finally gave in.)

It all just seems really, idk, odd to me? I'm side-eyeing it hardcore (and I want validation, dammit)!
  • I always wonder, in these sort of relationships, what two people with that large of an age gap have in common? Besides sex, I mean. With a whole generation between them, I wonder how they relate.

  • They have breeding/showing dogs in common. But umm, so do a thousands of other people. I only know her FI in passing but it seems like a super odd couple. Odd couples can work (me and FI, for instance haha) but 18 & 43 just gives me the heebie jeebies.
