Re: I start my new job today and other Tuesday things here :)

  • We leave next Wednesday evening woooo!
  • Daff, they're NMS, but I think they're cute.  They remind me of Irish dance shoes.
  • Hmm, thanks for the honest replies. I may get them anyway. We'll see. Need to percolate on it a little. As someone with pagan leanings, I don't mind looking a little witchy.

Manda - the restaurant was AHMAZING. Must go back. Exceeded expectations.

Oh, today is our 3rd anniversary. So there's that.

  • Morning ladies.

It's yet another rainy cloudy day in the islands.  5 in a row, which is pretty rare.   I have an exciting day of laundry and more purging to do... Jealous?    I'm annoyed because our washer is leaking, so I have to take the stuff to the laundry-mat at the complex.  Such a PITA.

DH's new position hit the NOLA newspapers today.   He now has a PR team. She calls everyday about stuff.  There is talk of a monthly food segment on one of the TV stations and his own twitter account.   I have to say all this is very weird and overwhelming.  I'm use to a our  quiet  little life here on our small little island.   I'm not an overly social person, more of an introvert.  It will be interesting what, if anything, will be expected of me.

  • Morning all!

    Happy Anniversary, Daff!

Fishy, drink some margaritas for me.

Sarah, I don't know if I've ever had any respect for Arnold.

And that's all I got... I never read the whole thread, because by the time I get back to page three, it's already on page five.

<div>Good question.   At the rate they are going not long.  The PR women said she will not "Ho" him out for a few more months, but there is already a lot of interest in him.   DH is not only a great chef (maybe bias on that), but he has a great personality.  You can't help to laugh when you are around him.  He will make good TV.  Guests all the time tell him that.</div>

Happy Anniversary Daff & Fishy. Have a great trip to Mexico Fishface.

Lynda that is all kinds of awesome. I think the NOLA move is going to be excellent for you two. If I ever make a trip can you get me into his super exclusive impossible to get reservations at restaurant? (You know it's totally going to be like that). :-)

  • I have to say I'm not surprised that Arnold has a love child.  Sad, in know.

I am surprised that the other woman kept it a secret for 10 years.

<div>I know right?  I will definitely use that to my advantage.  Although DH does not like to do that.  We have connections to some great places in NYC and he doesn't like to ask.   I might try to break him of that.</div>

I thought anything labeled over SPF 15 was not really anything more. Like SPF 15 was truly the highest sun protection goes. I still buy like 30 or 40 SPF though. :-)

Has anyone seen or heard from Squirrly?  I don't know what made me just think of her.  Just wanted to see how she was. :)

  • Happy Anniversary ladies.

Fische - I do not recommend the spray on lotions.  They suck big time.  I see some pretty bad burns and 99% of the time it's from sprays.  Stick with basic lotion and reapply often.    I normally get out of the shower and put it on right away.  That way it has time to soak in before going out in the sun.

  • Morning!

I just read an article in Vogue about sunscreen. Apparently SPF 15 gives you something like 94% protection against the sun's rays, then 30 is like 95%, and it goes up in smaller and smaller increments. So while SPF 50 gives you 96%, doubling that to SPF 100 only gets you up to 97%. Something like that. Plus you still have to reapply the high SPF ones just as often, and a lot of people don't do that because they think they're good to go with the high number, so they end up having less sun protection than if they'd applied SPF 15 properly.

I have nothing more interesting to say about my own life, sunscreen's all I got. Oh, except I agree with Mr. Panda re: using miles for nice seats. Between Chile and the US we usually buy 1 business class seat with money (a couple hundred dollars more than buying 2 coach seats) and one with miles. So worth it.

  • Lynda, I totally agree. We bought a spray one last year maybe? Or the year before. NEVER. AGAIN. There's hardly any IN there, and the coverage is so uneven and BLECH. No thank you!

  • Hmm.  I may need to pick some of that up for H before we go to Cozumel.  The last time he went out in the sun long-term, he got sun poisoning.
