Re: MEMO: It's Friday!

  • Stacks that is scary and a main reason as to why I just swam. I watched the divers in awe and realized I am not that coordinated so I said fuuck it and stayed put-

  • Stacks, you got more beat up diving than I did playing water polo in college.  That's nuts!  And I didn't exactly come out of water polo season unscathed.

Spa, you and me both.  All that twisting and flipping was not meant for clumsy me.  Did you swim in college?

Good Morning! I'm leaving in about an hour for my interview. It's in Northern VA, so 3 hours away. Then I get to spend the weekend with my husband and my dad. Yay!

Stacks just don't forget the tiki torches and sangria when you call together the mob.

  • I was offered a full ride but turned it down to go to a remote vet school (stupid= me) I should have just taken it to the U- since I left the wet school and went to the U anyway.

Our family swam compettively from babies -2 of my sibilings swam through college.

  • Holy F you guys are really chatty this morning.  And awesome.  Please don't stop the awesome.

So I have an amazing story.  I live in a small town (that is not recognized by TK, apparently Canada only has 4 cities so I have no local either, but I digress) and we don't have crazy shiit go down very often.  WELL, after snowboarding last night (which was amazing because we had like a foot and a half of untouched fresh powder) we went to a local restaurant for wine and apps and this crazy man who lives upstairs (who was recently on intervention for oxy) came down in a rage, slammed the front door, hammered on the bar telling the girl to call 911 and then slammed back out the door again.  She did and 5 cruisers showed up, with about 8 cops.

Well, they ended up arresting him (which apparently he's called the cops with the same outcome numerous times) but it took 6 of them to take him down, and he was laughing the whole time and yelling for people to call 911 still.  They tried to get him across the road but they had to drag him there, and he went limp and fell in the middle of the road, then tried to get up and make a run for it, but slipped and they all took him down again.  It took 30 minutes to get him in an ambulance, we're assuming to give him some happy drugs and chill him the eff out.  It was amusing because stuff like that doesn't happen very often (or apparently it does but we don't see it), but I felt sad for him because he's off his meds and that's what happens, and he has no friends or family around, so the guy who owns the restaurant has sort of taken him in.

Anyway, that's my crazy story.  How's THAT for a morning read!

  • I dove in junior high, but stopped after a pretty bad accident. I got dizzy and involuntarily left the 1M board, landing flat on my back on the deck. I permanently fucked up my back and neck, and had some pretty bad elbow injuries. Stacks, I dove at Wright State, in case you're familiar with it.
  • Spa, when you say "the U" you're not talking Miami, right?  Turning down a full ride was a brave decision, and it's a bummer that things didn't turn out the way you'd planned.  And that's cool that you all swam, my little brother wanted nothing to do with the pool, and he ended up being a ski racer.  The speed suited his adrenaline-junky needs much better than staring at the black line for hours on end.

MK, good luck at your interview and safe travels north!  Be careful tomorrow- the weather up this way is supposed to be lousy in the morning.

  • Geez it's at 4 pages and not even 9 (here).  It snowed for the first time last night, and I'm excited.  2 months late, but whatever.  The sidewalks are not clear and the streets were slick so my run was questionable.

Spa that's awesome they offered you a full ride! So cool.
  • Goodness Habs. That makes for an interesting dinner story.

  • I think being in the mob means we sell more legit upscale drugs like...cocaine and shrooms. Gang members sell crank and peanut butter meth.

  • Thanks ladies. Grover I'll remember to be careful tomorrow. Looks like it will be a nice day today which is good since that's my travel day. We're going to look at apartments tomorrow. I'll dress warm!

  • Sorry no I meant Washington but thanks :D

I was in Orlando only for like 1 1/2 years to swim then transfered back to WA to live with my parents. FL was ok but it was lame to just live with siblings while we were all in our teens. Lots of drama.

    Good Luck MK

  • 10 M, Stacks?!  Holy shiiit.

I was on high school swim team and the pool we used had two 3M diving boards.  We (the swimmers, not the divers) weren't allowed to dive off them for obvious reasons, but we were allowed to jump if we wanted.  JUMPING from a 3M scared me enough.  I can't even imagine 10 M.

  • I haven't drank anything all week, and I still ended up gaining a tiny bit of weight.  I'm getting frustrated, but I know it's really too early to let myself get so frustrated.

  • Good morning chatty ladies! (and gent if Charmin is here)

I'm excited for FI's award ceremony tonight and my grandma is getting out of the hospital today! That's all I've really got right now. :)
  • Morning! Y'all sure are chatty today!

Special, I know that this time of year I always get all out of sorts. Shorter days=shorter fuse. Maybe when it warms back up you'll feel better.

Ok so I just finished the thread AND my TK community E handbook.  Since I'm not allowed to write anything nice in FFF, Stacks, I think you are hilarious, and when you are serious I think it's pretty obvious.  I might just think you are awesome because H is hawt and I imagine him speaking.

I do this with a lot of people's sigs, it makes everything way funnier.

[QUOTE]Habs - that is sad about the guy. No family or anything around? That's nice of the restaurant owner to take him in but it sounds like the guy needs serious help.

They've tried.  There's a show called intervention, where they take the person and put them in rehab, but he didn't stay.  He tried to get his girlfriend (who sells oxy) to go with him, but she wouldn't because she didn't want to lose the free drugs.

<div>Man that show gets to me every.single.time.  I have not seen this one though.  Poor guy.  I understand it's a path you spiral down because of the choices you made and it's hard to be a loved one of an addict, but as an outsider you just want to see them get better.  </div>
