MORNING

I'm excited because even though I was awake at 6am, I don't have to be at work until 10. So I'm working on invitations untill then.

What's up with you?

Re: MORNING

  • Good morning!

I'm getting ready for work and contemplating how much needs to be done before we move this upcoming weekend.  Argh.  My mind is blown by how much stuff we have -- it's amazing how much we'e accumulated in the last 8 months.
  • I know how you feel. FI is the type to throw out everything he doesn't use every thing he moves and I like to keep everything.
  • Oh, and since I spent all last evening reviewing my students' files from the last two years (I have to submit grades on them this week, and I'm meeting each one individually today to wrap up the last two quarters), I was dreaming about all of them last night.  I dreamt that one of my students made a pass at me (unsuccessfully).  I wonder if I'm going to feel weird when I'm sitting one-on-one with him today.  :/
  • In general, I get rid of things I don't use, except for books and gifts.  H hangs on to EVERYTHING.  I don't like buying knick knacks, but he has a ton of random things from his travels (a dried out piranha pops to mind) that I'd rather not display but am not allowed to throw out.

One thing that excites me about moving to the new house is that H can have a room for his ugly junk, and I can keep the door to that room closed.  :)
  • Good morning!  Mica are you using movers, or doing it yourself?  The "movers" could always lose the box of ugly stuff you hate.  Or you know, you could "drop" it on the ground as you're unpacking and it breaks.  Haha I told H that he better take all the stuff that I hate with him on deployment because I can't guarantee that the movers wouldn't "lose it."

We are both pretty much tossers, not savers.  And the stuff we do save usually gets tossed in the next move.  I tossed a bunch as we were unpacking, and now I just tossed a bunch unpacking here.  I still have a lot of stuff we don't need but it's too good to throw away (like unopened Pampered Chef stuff) so I'm saving it and hoping for a garage sale.

  • We're hiring movers and packers.  We're only moving 4 miles away, so it's unlikely that the movers will be able to lose anything without H suspecting anything.  If only I'd thought about having them lose a box on the cross country move!  :P
  • Good morning!

I'm definitely in the throwing stuff away camp. I hate clutter and toss crap all the time! I'm glad you're getting a room for H's stuff - that is something on my wish list eventually too!

We're dealing with a fued with our downstairs neighbor right now (she's always finding invalid stuff to complain to the landlord about us - most recently, a disabled vehicle in the parking lot that she claimed was ours.. and it's not).  Well, yesterday, I'm 99% positive that she threw out our charcoal grill which we are allowed (pursuant to our lease) to store under the stairs. FI found it in the dumpster last night and saw her peaking out the window at him. So I knocked on her door to ask her about it and she didn't answer.  Calling our landlord this morning and we'll see what happens...
  • I keep adding people on the guest list from work and now I'm one invitation short. Oops.
  • Morning, oh dear Aleigh, sounds like you need to make more, do you have additional supplies?

Mica, sounds like you have a busy, busy week.  Hopefully it will fly by and you will be settled in no time.  I am a keeper like your husband and FI is a tosser so it all evens out.  Although when I emptied out my house in NEPA I was a huge tosser, I had lived there for 22+ years, with two kids, and needed a good toss party.  3 dumpsters worth to be exact.  Boy was that liberating!

Today is our last day of snowmobiling (morning only).  We are headed home around noon.  It will be good to get back to home and the Golden.  I miss Helmut.
  • Okay tell me if I'm going to get shunned for this.

FSIL just turned 18 in January and still lives with her parents. If I send her/her BF's rsvp card in the same invitation as her parents, I would have enough pocketfolds for everyone. I know she should technically get her own invitation but is her own rsvp card enough?
  • My head hurts. I drank too much wine last night.

Soon I will get off of the couch and work out then start cleaning and laundry. I also need to decide what to make for dinner. Not sure what that will be.

  • Morning!

We both tend to toss stuff; every few months we go through everything and get rid of whatever we don't need/haven't used.

Mica you must be so excited to get into the new place but I can imagine the headaches coming along with it!  At least you have the packers and movers. :)
  • Eh, Aleigh I would do it.  Especially since it's just FI's sister.

  • Morning.  I got to work early because of a daily 7:00 meeting that my boss scheduled... only to find out it starts tomorrow morning, not today.  Ugh.. Oh well - I guess that means I'll leave at 3:30 since I got here at 6:30.

Aleigh - I'd totally do the same thing with the inivitation.  Especially since it's such close family.

Mica - good luck with the move this week.  We have so much stuff that we have saved "for when we have a bigger place".  Once we are moved I'm having a garage sale for anything I really don't use in the new place... but is that the house we will rent for a year or two while we save up a new downpayment and figure out where we want to buy, or wait until we actually buy the next house.   I'm not sure... :)
  • Morning ladies!  This is (hopefully) my only day of work this week before Florida :)  I worked on Saturday and was supposed to only work until 1:30, but somehow go roped into working the front desk until 4pm because the girl who was supposed to work it never came to relieve me.  So I worked 7.5 hours on Saturday that I need to comp from this week.  I'm hoping my boss will let me just take a short lunch today and then not come in at all tomorrow.  Or just go in for the weekly staff meeting at 11am.  I have a lot of laundry/packing/cleaning to do before we leave tomorrow night.

H had to go out of town for work yesterday/last night, so I spent most of the rainy day on the couch snuggled up under blankets watching TV and Embarassed Breaking Dawn.  The movies are so bad, I don't know why I keep watching them, haha.  But I can't stop!

  • Good morning!  I don't have work today, so I'm going to be spending probably the entire day doing housework and homework...uh, yay?  But.  It's better than going in to work!

  • I'm jealous of all of you living in a state that celebrates President's Day.  I have a full clinic and teaching schedule today.  Hmph.
  • Mica I never knew that people didn't celebrate all federal holidays.  As a teacher we always had off for them, and in NY a lot of offices would be closed.  Then when I was living in WA i would always ask my boss if we were going to open on the hoildays so I knew what to schedule, and he would say always say I showed my East coast roots that way.

  • That sounds like my day Bay, minus the homework, lots of laundry and cleaning up mixed with some wedding stuff.  Fun, but like you said at least it's not work.
  • Alright time to get ready for work

    Have a great day ladies!
  • Dnb -- I've worked in both the private and public sector, and at both state and federal levels, so I've just gotten used to asking.  I'll say that FL seems to skip more holidays than CA.
  • Morning!  My internet just came back up, so I've spent the past hour doing my homework at work.  We're still locked out of our customer system, so I will continue on my homework.  I'm on day 3 of having a spinach smoothie for breakfast.  I think it's growing on me.

Good luck with the move, Mica!  H is much more of a packrat than I am.  We had to buy a damn shed when he moved in with me.  Silly boy.

Bay, I would much rather be doing my homework at home.  Jealous.

  • Morning! :) I really hope my dad's new phone is good because I want to switch mine out too. We all just got new phones (HTC Freestyles) and they're horrible. When dad called to complain about all the issues he'd been having, the salesperson actually told him those phones were POS and they were replacing them all with Pantecs. It boggles my mind why someone would sell something they know is a POS and then less than a month later, trade it out for free for one that actually works.

Bay and Sle, I would much rather be at home doing housework/wedding stuff. No homework, though.
  • Midge, that's obnoxious.  When H and I went in to upgrade, H picked out the phone he wanted, and the salesguy said "Oh no, that one's crap, here, choose this one instead".  And I asked him why the hell they have phones on the floor that are crap?  It makes zero sense to me.  He didn't have an answer for that, either.

  • Bay, at least he told you! He probably doesn't have any control over what corporate tells him to have on the floor. Granted, we did order just from online so there was no one to tell us they were crap, but in that case, they shouldn't be available for sale online. It's easier for us to get my mom's employee discount from online.

    Hello everyone-

I hate little knick knacks. FMIL loves them and insists on giving them to us all the time. I feel bad throwing it out or saying no so I have no idea what to do with them.

I like to throw things away when we move as does FI but he holds onto the weirdest stuff. Like War Hammer stuff he doesn't use or old computer parts.

We do not have today off. We voted to omit MLK day, President's Day, Veteran's Day in order to have a 10 break from Christmas time to after the New Year. We still get 4th of July, Labor Day and Memorial Day off.

  • Man, I WISH my job had a 10-day break from Christmas to NY.  It's the second-busiest time of the year for us so there's no question of that.

The busiest time of the year starts in two days.  I kind of want to crawl under my bed and hide.  But at least I get today off before that.  The calm before the storm lol.

Goodwill.  H's grandma always gives us little knick-knacky things for Christmas that just don't fit our house.
