NWR - Do you take your ring off to sleep?

Re: NWR - Do you take your ring off to sleep?

  • I used to not take my ring off, but then I started scratching myself and FI, and I also started noticing scratches on my bed from my fring hitting the bed frame as I slept.  So after I had my ring resized, I stopped wearing it to bed.

  • Nope. The only time I take any rings off is when I'm putting lotion on or making something really messy. I have 2 thumb rings on all the time, because they have gotten to the poing that they wont come off most of the time.

Making perogies is the time i take them off.

  • If you have a simple band, you can keep it on without much trouble.  I usually only take off to shower or when I wash my hands because the soap will get under the ring.  But if you have a stone or you also wear your e-ring, I wouldn't wear this to bed.  As it is now, I only wear my e-ring on the weekends because during the week, I work out and would hate to leave it at the gym.  Also, I sometimes have to travel to some questionable areas for work and don't want to risk putting myself into something just because I wanted to be flashy with my ring.
  • I never take mine off...only have to excercise a few times so it didn't get scratched. I'm too afriad I'll lose it if I take it off for everything like showering, cleaning, sleeping...I feel way more comfortable if I am always wearing it.
I hope I'm not damaging it!
  • I only take my ring off when I shower, work out and clean.

  • I also don't wear my ring more than I do most days.  My center stone is nice size and you can (i mean i can) see smudges on it- with four pets that like to lick it, it's just easier to keep on a ring stand I have in the bathroom.  Otherwise I walk around examining it and cleaning it all day if I am home (I know a little ocd...)
  • Until I got my rings resized, I took them off for all kinds of things. But now I keep them on all the time. :)
  • I only take it off when my hands will get wet (bathroom, shower, dishes, etc) because water traps under my ring and makes my finger break out.

  • My ring because it has a halo on it is kind of like a small building. The first couple of weeks it took quite a bit of getting used to. I haven't had it for very long, but I've only taken it off to put on lotion or had it cleaned. When I sleep, I turn the ring upside down, so the large diamond is actually nestled toward the palm of my hand. I find that I am less likely to scratch my fiance or myself this way.

  • I take my ring off a lot...especially to sleep at night (fibers always get stuck in my ring from my fuzzy blanket).  I also take it off when I go on a hospital floor because I am always getting stuck on patients, lines, breaking through gloves, etc.  Otherwise, I generally wear it unless I'm cleaning or something.

  • I have to take mine off the first night I slept with it on my finger lost circulation and when i woke up my whole ring ringer was purple and i couldnt get it off! I guess my fingers swell up when i'm sleeping. I just leave it in the box he proposed with and set it on my night stand. I also take it off when i shower, clean dishes and wash my hands. i'm paranoid i'm going to ruin the metal.

  • I would love to sleep with my e ring on but Fi won't hear of it. He's afraid I'll scratch him with it. So it goes on the nightstand when I'm sleeping and on the bathroom counter when I'm showering. I can't wait til the end of the month when I have my band so I can sleep in it :)
  • I used to take my ring off a lot -- showers, hair styling, lotion, hands-washing, etc.

Now, having been engaged for a year, I only ever take it off to clean it and to try on wedding bands lol.

  • I agree with beatlesgirl!  When I get home for the night I take all my jewelry off. But I usually start working out, cleaning, etc at that point.  I slept in it the first night I had it and it fell off. After that is started going in the armoire!

Sometimes I don't wear it to work either, but I work with sea turtles, salty, wet, messes and if I know I'm going to have a crazy day I leave it at home.  We are going to get a less expensive set that I can wear when I get nasty and dirty. That way I can still have the symbolism, but it isn't a big deal if I lose it or get it nasty at work.

  • Stupid fat fingers in the morning/night.  I have to same problem with swelling in the fingers.  It is annoying!!! I sleep with my ring on.  I do, however, take it off at work, when I am cleaning, and putting on lotion.  Other than that, it says on my finger.
  • I only take my engagement ring off when I use harsh chemicals are disect things because the gloves tear with the ring. I got my ring a 1/4 size too small so its comfortable when its on but theres no chance of it coming off without some force it's also nice to have it insurence on it.

  • Put me in the camp that take the ring off a night! I have a really pretty old-fashioned ring/jewelry dish (with the "finger" in the middle and a bowl around the bottom for other jewelry) that I found at a yard sale years ago. When my ring is not on my finger,  that is the absolute only place that it will be!

I place my ring and earrings, etc. in the dish on the nightstand at night, and put them on again after I shower. It's such a routine now, that I've never forgotten to put it back on. Also, I just feel weird with anything on (like jewelry) when I sleep :-)

  • I wear mine to sleep! I always wear mine, except in the shower.
  • I just take it off to put lotion on or when I'm cleaning w/ harsh chemicals.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: NWR - Do you take your ring off to sleep? : So true!  Hoohah scratches are very bad!  Another resident actually was wearing her ginormo e-ring on OB-Gyn rotation and "irritated" a delivering mom's tissue.  Can't wait until I get married and get a band that I can wear to clinic/hospital every day.
