Help my friend fix her gap

Re: Help my friend fix her gap

  • catholics dont expect gaps.  some do, some dont.  i'm a lifelong catholic, as is my husband, and neither of us have ever attended a "gap" wedding.

also, its nto approrpirate to blame the church for the gap which many like to do.  usually gaps occur because brides insist on an evening reception and/or a specific venue that doesnt alow for lunchtime receptions.  many, many venues block off 12noon to 5pm and then 6pm to midnight for reception times.  a wedding at 10 or 11 am could easily have a reception starting at 12noon.
  • That's an awfully large gap.  I ended up switching reception locations to prevent a gap like that.  I wouldn't advise having a gap of more than a few hours.  Too much time in between and she'll end up with most of the guests at either the ceremony or the reception but not both.  Why not switch the ceremony location if they're set on the reception location?  They could be married at any Catholic Church, not just the church the bride goes to.
