Seriously? Actually, it's probably worth the extra $35 not to have to go to Columbia. I hate that town.

DH's daughter and her husband live there. They just bought a house in West Columbia? I think it is. So we stayed with them the first few days we were in SC.
Yeah when we got off the highway to use the bathroom/fuel at 10pm in one area. I refused to get out of the truck. I would have rather bust then go where he stopped.
I made him leave, and stop closer to the house. It was nicer where they live at, but I feel ya!

If you get married in MD, get a MD marriage license. One caveat: if you're a same-sex marriage, VA won't recognize it. 2. The comment about having a JOP ceremony in VA is just a way to pander to stupid people to pay fees to VA after they've already been married. Its a ploy to collect some revenue. 3. The full faith and credit clause that covers weddings in other states usually applies to foreign weddings as well. DOMA makes it not apply to foreign, same-sex weddings, unless the state itself recognizes same-sex weddings, of course. The exception to this would be countries which the US doesn't recognize or which don't have a functioning legal system, like Somalia. But something like the UK, where the government and records are similar to the US, yeah, it's recognized.

We got married in CA. We could get a marriage license in San Francisco county to get married in Alameda county, it just had to be a license from a county in CA. We had to show ID multiple times but I did not have to show proof of my divorce because it occurred more than 18 months ago. Weird, huh?

I'm making an educated guess that you both have to be physically present. You have to both sign the paperwork and they make you raise your right hand and swear an oath that all the information on the paperwork is true to your knowledge. Both parties have to have their signatures on the paperwork.
