TGIS

Morning! I am feeling better today, thankfully. I took Lucy for a long walk to and from the video rental lace and grocery store. She is now sleeping in the open doorway. She gets hot easily.

What are your plans today?

Re: TGIS

  • Well, right now I'm bumming.  Originally I was going to help DD with a beach birthday party for my g'daughter, Josie.  Well, it will be 102 there today so beach is out.  OK - we come up with a plan B slumber party with dancing, mani/pedi's, girlie stuff on steroids.  DD just called and they have been without power for 10 hours and no news of when it will be back. They live in the country so they don't even have water.  Josie's party is cancelled - my poor little girl.

  • Hey Snips. What did you rent? Lucy is getting so big!

I'm still on restricted activity after my procedure yesterday, so my day will likely be spent on the couch or sitting in front of the computer. Super exciting stuff. However, my sister did send me some ridiculously awesome cupcakes yesterday, so I have those to keep me company.
  • No plans for me tonight, I work today - FI & I might go to a movie after.

kmm - That sucks about your g'daughter's birthday party, why/how did the power get knocked off where your DD lives?

  • Morning.  I fell asleep at 8 last night and was up before 6.  I'm watching old reruns of One Tree Hill and hoping I"ll be able to fall asleep for a nap later.  My bachelorette party is tonight and I don't want to be passing out by 10.

Bummer KMM. Can they come stay with you so you get a little family time?

    *SUPER HUGS* Jill.

ETA: Duh. I rented Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Bridesmaids (I haven't seen it!) and One for the Money.
  • Thanks Snips. We're doing ok. I haven't seen the other two, but Bridesmaids is fun. We actually went and saw it the afternoon of my bachelorette party. I'm working my way back through the whole first season of New Girl on Hulu, then will probably turn my attention towards my Netflix instant queue. I'm also doing some looking for my friend for her wedding next fall. She wants to do what I did with my bridesmaids dresses-pick a color and fabric, and let everyone choose, but since she's doing a peacock scheme, and an outdoor wedding in October, it's a little tricky to find a whole set of full-length dresses
  • We finally got rain here today! FI has been wanting rain so his grass seeds can grow in.

Snippy - I'm sure you probably answered this before, how long have been in Sweden for? Is there any timeline for when you would be moving back to MI?

  • So, how many colors is she going to do? That seems like it might be a bit excessive, Jill.

We've been in Sweden for 2 years, before that, 2.5 years in Italy. No plans to move back to Michigan, probably ever. Who knows where we will end up!

  • From what I've seen so far, I'm thinking she's going teal and then using peacock feathers and other colors as accents. They're kind of going for a vintage 1920's-ish feel. I loved planning my wedding so I'm secretely hoping she asks for more help Tongue Out

Snippy - That sounds exciting! I dont know how the families who have to move on a whim do it - this lady that comes into work is waiting for any notice that her family has to move again, she said theyd been given 2 weeks notice before & they have young children too.

Do you atleast like it in Sweden? Ive always wanted to visit but I dont know if Id be able to live there.

  • Morning.  I STILL feel crappy.  This is ridiculous.  I have my stupid volunteer job this morning, and then I'm supposed to be meeting Poli this afternoon, but I feel so crappy, I don't know if I'll make it.  I'm bummed.

  • Thanks Mica :)

I would LOVE to get a place in Costa Rica at some point. I don't think I could do it permanently, because as much as they drive me nuts, I like being around my family when I chose to be. That would definitely be rough for me.

  • Good morning. I'm getting ready to head to my first pole dancing class. Really nervous. I'm not always coordinated so I don't know how this will go. Other than that I need to clean and work on wedding stuff.

J, did you change your picture after box kitty's food raid yesterday? Or has it been there awhile and I am noticing it now?

Haha being fluent in the language will probably help out a lot. Where in Germany was FI? I was in Munich mostly.

  • I would never ever, voluntarily move to Italy or any southern Europe country again. It was a horrible experience. HORR.IBLE. Sweden, on the other hand, I completely adore.

Visiting a place is totally different from living somewhere, and that's the biggest thing to remember.

  • Jill, has your friend checked out cocomyles for bridesmaids dresses?
  • I'm hoping for some new AEs or trolls on the knot today.

The temperatures here will be over 100 and the air quality is poor which means anyone with asthma has to sit on their azz inside :(
  • Mica, nope, but I'll have her look!

<div>We aren't sure why they have no power.  She said there was a utility truck in front of their house at 2 am but they didn't go through a storm. Maybe the stress on the power grid or something?  It was over 100 the last two days and will be today too.</div>

I don't think it's worth it in the least, to put your life on hold, unless teaching english is something that will benefit you in the future. <div>
</div><div>My experience was horrible because of where I was living, the fact that I couldn't work, and so many other things. Plus, it's insanely difficult to live there. Insanely. It might be easier if you were living in one of the main cities, Florence, Rome, Milan. But I hear it's much the same everywhere. It's like... the beauracracy, the day to day living is jusst so hard. Everything is a major struggle. But, that's as far as I'll take it here. :) </div>
