Re: SYTTD

• No, watching Tabitha's Salon Takeover. Good episode?
• Not yet. We started re-watching all the seasons of Lost so I've got to get through this episode before SYTTD.
• One of these brides brought her mom and cousin, and they are pissing me the hell off. She has gained like 20lb in the recent months/years and they won't stop bringing it up. They tell her she can't pull off a sexy dress because of her weight. Grr.

• I'm watching -- SYTTD is one of my favorite vices.
• i'm watching. That drives me nuts! My mom kept making comments when i was dress shopping. It made me really self-conscious

They are so nasty! I can't believe it. How can you treat someone you love that way?

• The woman who's shopping with her cousin and mother -- that family (minus the bride-to-be) is dreadful. Absolutely horrible.
• I want to punch both of them right in their noses. They are awful people.
image
• I'd be in tears if someone said that to me. And *then* I'd punch them.
• I cant believe the mother and cousin were just LAUGHING at her, and commenting on how fat she looks. I would raise hell if anyone spoke to/about me like that. That is some nerve and i am so disgusted by those two women.

See, my mom was the complete opposite. To her, everything I tried on "looked beautiful" on me and she couldn't help me choose. I much prefered that over berating though.

• That's exactly why I didn't take my mom or my sister with me dress shopping. That's an awful thing to say, but I knew comments would be made, even if they weren't mean-spirited. I just didn't need to be reminded that I'm not a size 4 anymore, ya know? Not on that day, anyway.
• That's the thing Bec, I wanted honesty because I wanted to look good, I just didn't need to know that "that dress isn't right for you because you're arms are fat"

This was how my mom was too. I felt like I really couldn't get an accurate gauge on how a dress really looked on me. I was hard enough on myself as it was, I couldn't imagine having someone making negative comment about me during this process.

There were 4 dresses that I put on and immediately took off because I felt that I looked like crap in them. I narrowed it down to 2, but mom loved both, and so I brought my 2 best friends a few days later and they told me the truth. They told me which one made my hips look smaller, and I appreciated that. But these women were completely awful. I can't imagine being related to people like them!

See, and that was my best friend. She loved every dress I put on, minus the one that the saleswoman forced me to try on:

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not J-Lo... and my mom almost fell out of her chair.
• Oh Teresa, do you have pics of you in that dress?
• I'm enjoying watching SYTTD like always, but I'm really looking forward to the preview for this new show, "Four Wedding". A friend from the UK was telling me about this show (the premise is originally from the BBC), and it sounds SO great.

• Yikes, Teresa! That is some dress! It would be more promising if a) the neckline wasn't so low and b) it wasn't on a sickly thin model.

• I know, why do I feel like you would be really hot in that dress?
• Pink - Is that the show where 4 brides judge each other's wedding and the one with the highest score gets a prize or something?

Hahaha, noooo. Not even close. I'm sure it'd be a beautiful dress on someone; I'm just not that "someone".

And tangent, I was supposed to purchase my dress tomorrow (and get the opportunity to take a picture or two of me in it), but I'm afraid the possible snow will be canceling those plans.

• Btw Teresa, that light-up dress in your bio is so...ya know, I have no words.

• J's sister asked me to go look at dresses, and I could have made an effort to ask my mom and sis to go, but I didn't. SIL was honest and gave great reasons why dresses looked good or not, unlike my mom who would have said things like, "Well, just cover up the things that don't look good." and fitted me in a turlteneck, long sleeve dress. With a hood.
• FWIW Bec, you had a rockin' dress. It looked perfect on you!

gg, it leaves you speechless -- plus the way it lights up as the music crescendos...

I believe the girl tried selling it for right around $10,000... what a bargain.
