Registering for a charity

Re: Registering for a charity

  • It irritates me because I want to give the couple a GIFT.  I don't care if they don't NEED anything.  Seriously, you just got married.  Have this cool present to celebrate.  The charity may or may not be one I think is awesome - and I still would prefer to give the couple a gift.  I give separately to charaties I support.

Now, if you get cash and you decide you want to donate it, that's your perogative - but please don't tell me that's what you did with my gift.  Instead, tell me how I sent you out to dinner (and you donate YOUR money that you'd have otherwise spent on that dinner to the charity).

  • I'm not a fan of registries but I'd prefer a charity registry to a regular registry- It wouldn't matter to me if I didn't support it personally (well, provided it wasn't contradictory to any fundamental values I held) as officially it is a 'gift' for the couple.
