Nighttime ladies!

Where are you?

I had an exhausting morning that spilled into my afternoon, so I decided to order a pizza rather than cook tonight.  I <3 delivery, but I miss the non-chain restaurants in CA.  Here it's sort of Dominos, Papa Johns or bust.

  • Hey you!  I haven't been around at night for a while.  I'm doing a little registry stalking. Embarassed So I thought I'd pop in.

Sorry about the exhausting day and chain pizza.  I prefer Papa John's if we get chain.

  • Fezz!  How are you, mamacita?
  • Hey ladies!  I'm watching some SVU and just being lazy.  I did a ton of little things today that I've been putting off for a while.  But I did also send out applications for 2 postings at the community college near me so I'm hoping something happens with that.  I'm not too hopeful though because I'm assuming they have teachers they re-hire all the time and are just required to post the openings.

I haven't ventured to find a good pizza place here yet.  My friend always orders from Domino's so that's really the only place I've had here yet.  I'm dying to get home in May though and get some real pizza and wings!

  • I'm good!  Since I've been on extra iron for the anemia I've felt so much better.  Just counting down the days!

How are you? How's the house?

  • Hello!  I just finished my paper a little while ago, taking a break for dinner (tortellini) before starting in on the rest of the week's homework.  So glad to have that paper done.  H is gone for the night so it's just me and the cats.  He's working until tomorrow morning.  I hate nights like that because even though we'll be home tomorrow afternoon he's going to be a zombie from working 25 hours straight.  Oh well.

  • The house is coming along.  The roof will be repaired next week.  I'm looking for a pool guy.  I need to start looking for a new dishwasher.  Ugh.  But I do love it.  And my piano arrives next week!  Woot!
  • I'm still at work and have a paer to work on when I go home.  Thankfully I have some time to work on it, so I don't have to get it all done tonight.  Fi and the kids are pizza junkies, so if I don't see another one any time soon, I'll be ok!  I have no idea what we're having tonight, but it's in the fridge, lol.
  • Ah, the fun stuff.  But yay for piano!  That's real fun. :)

  • My pool is so green, I think there's more algae than water.  The pump, of course, died somewhere between the inspection and closing, so the pool is filthy.
  • Well that sucks.  Figures, though.  Do you guys have one of those creepy crawly cleaners that does the bottom?

  • Mica I'm really starting to think the whole home ownership thing is overrated.  I clearly did not think this thing through.  Especially agreeing to buy when we did, with the size yard we did.  There is sooo much yardwork and mowing to do, I'm so freaking sick of it already.  I tell H all the time that i'm keeping track of all this crap I have to do and I'm not touching the lawn mower for a really long time once he's home.

  • Hi hi. Going to see Hunger Games in about an hour, and I'm praying it doesn't disappoint me.

</div><div>I think this all the time. I SAY I like to garden...but about three weeks in, I'm bored and FI has to do it. I like having a garden...I just don't actually like GARDENING it.

    </div>
  • We don't, Fezz.  It's a tiny pool, so I'm not sure if it's worth it, but I'm going to price one of them soon.

DNB -- I know!  I keep thinking about the list of things that need to be done for the house, and it's just $$$$ and tons of time ad infinitum.
  • If you can, find a gardener.  I've never mowed a lawn.  I don't mind planting stuff as long as it'd be hit by the sprinklers, but I don't like routine maintenance.  Our place doesn't have much garden, and I think I'm going to plant trees if anything.  I can't handle the effort to maintain things.

I'm lazy.  I hope things change with time, but I doubt it.
  • Whit!  I love the new sig pic!

</div><div>I was all about the perennials. I didn't want to do crap twice. Our house gets a TON of shade, so I was limited, but certain ones keep coming back. I figure I'll plant a few plants every year and maybe by 2034, we'll have a nice backyard. </div><div>
</div><div>As far as VEGETABLE gardening goes, I'm interested for three weeks. That's when FI gets involved and has to take over. I mean, it's nice to have fresh corn. But. I'm also lazy. And what does one do with 192874 zucchinis?!

    </div>
  • I know Mica!  I keep thinking of all these things we want to do or will eventually need to replace and it's so pricey.  For example, we will need to replace our fence within a few years, and it will be at least a few grand because of the size of the yard we need to fence in.  The house was move in ready, but there were definitely plenty of little jobs.  I'm so thankful that my parents came down and my dad was able to do a lot of it for me.

And yeah, i haven't even attempted to do anything with gardening.  I would be fine to plant the stuff, but I'm like you in that I hate keeping up on the maintence.  H is much better about that than me.  So I'm pretty sure I'm not doing shiit this summer and will do things next year when I have his help.  At least our front was landscaped, and nobody can see our backyard anyways.

  • Aw thanks! I am thinkign about changing it again though, I feel like I've gained too much weight. :( Working out almost daily though!

  • And FTR, I vote Domino's. I love their buttery garlic crust. We're eating deer filets.

I'm jealous of all you house buying ladies! But I love the low maintenance life of apartment living.

Hi bay :) I'm glad you got your paper done! ::happy dance:: I have four weeks left of this semester of grad school, and then only my culminating experience to go!

  • I don't think you'll be disappointed in the movie Whit.   I loved it!  There was really only 2 things i was disappointed with, but they didn't keep me from loving it.

  • I do the gardening on my patio.  It's a whole 8' x 30' space.  Some years I even get a few tomatoes.

I laid around all day today because I'm getting a cold so I know I'll never sleep tonight

Perhaps I should go prep the pots but I know if I do, we'll get a blizzard or something

  • H prefers Dominos, so that's what we always get.  But garlic gives him a headache, so we switched from the garlicy (yummy) crust to the Brooklyn crust.

  • I didn't even know you could get different crusts! Too bad we don't even have a Domino's around here anymore.

  • Well I guess technically it's 3 things because I'm disappinted that Peeta wasn't as hot as he was in my head when reading the books.  But I got over that one a long time ago when they did the casting.

  • We've been living here 2.5 years. And have yet to do any landscaping.
