Nighttime ladies!

Re: Nighttime ladies!

  • I didn't like beer until I ended up drinking a lot of it. Same with wine. It was definitely an acquired taste. But sometimes the taste just doesn't get acquired, and I get that most people don't like training themselves to like something.

Coffee is still an acquired taste for me too. I like it now, but I have to put tons of stuff in it. It barely resembles coffee by the time I'm finished.

I looooooooove the smell of coffee, though. Love it.
  • I hate scotch. And whiskey. And bourbon. Pretty much all of my FI's favorites. But gin and I have a special relationship.

  • I just can't get by the smell, it literally makes me nauseous. Wine is the lifestyle here, especially in my job. Deep down, I'm a hard liquor kind of girl though.

I was like this with coffee for a long time, too. I eventually noticed that I now use less creamer and usually don't use sugar now that I'm more accustomed to the taste. Maybe you'll develop more of a taste for it in its natural form eventually.

  • My go to drink used to be rum and coke.  But I had a little too much on a work night back in '07.  Now I can't drink rum any more.   I'm almost exclusively wine.  A beer if someone is offering it for free.  But I sip beer.  I chug wine.

I'm like you, Holly. When I was younger I could drink hard liquor and now I just want to puke whenever I drink it. I'll stick with my beer and wine.

  • Holly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE reisling.  Now I'm opening up a bit more to reds, especially since it's been winter.  My friend and I were discussing wine the other day.  She said that it's easier to like most red wines.  However whites are a bit more difficult.  Chardonnays are just gross to me now.
  • My wine of choice:

It's dangerous though. I can throw back a whole bottle pretty quick, and it hits you like liquor.

  • I love fruity, sweet wines. Any recommendations? I don't know much about wine, so I only drink a couple brands.

I also like hard liquor. Nothing too strong like whiskey, though. I mostly stick to rum, Long Islands, and fruity, girly drinks that sneak up on you.
  • I LOVE reisling. I first started drinking when I was in Germany/Austria, so I love all wines made in a German fashion.. reisling and Gewürtztraminers are my favorites, though.

You should come to the Finger Lakes then. You would have literally hundreds to choose from.

  • My favorite is Polka Dot.  I think it's also because the bottle was my wedding colors.

You would like the drink FI's family ordered for me at the bar on Saturday. It was called a Blue Motherfucker. I was told it was a Long Island mixed with blue caracao instead of... something. It was strong like a Long Island but super sweet and easy to drink.<div>
</div><div>I have no idea how I got into my pajamas that night after drinking so many of those.</div>

  • At the bars at Purdue, they would make an Amaretto Stone Sour, which is an amaretto sour with grenadine.  It was so delicious!  Mmmm, now I want one.  Who wants to go to West Lafayette?
  • We have a Riesling festival every summer. I work it so I can get in and taste for free lol

I love the unnecessary umlaut over the o on the bottle. It makes me smile. It actually sounds pretty darn good.

Blue Caracao instead of Coke. My friend had me drink those one night. They called it a "Lay Me Down, Sweet Jesus". I should have known better, but I drank three of them because they tasted just like Kool-Aid. <div>
</div><div>I've never been that drunk EVER. I could hardly walk or talk, and I passed out on their living room floor after we stumbled home from the bar. It was the one and only time I had a hangover.</div>

All the wine talk makes me think I should go to bed before I have a third glass.

Goodnight ladies! It was fun talking with you.

OH MY GOD. Yes. It was up there with the worst hangovers I have ever had. I looked so shiity on Sunday that FI's sister asked FI if I had been crying.

  • Yeah, this is seriously the only job I've had where you are expected to drink on the clock. Sweet deal.

[QUOTE]I had fun times with Long Islands when I was 18.  Oh man, freshman year was a blast.  Mainly just 2nd semester though.  First semester I was still a goody-two-shoes.

    Confession:  I didn't drink until I was 21.

But I think I've been making up for it ever since.  I drank long islands when I first turned 21.  Those things can eff you up!

  • Dang, raes!  What do you do?  We got paid to drink once at work.  There was a mandatory social to celebrate a company achievement.  It was at 4pm and in the office.

Now if we have socials at the office, it's "donated time".

I was pretty darn close to this. I got drunk once when I was a few weeks away from 20, then I didn't touch the stuff again until I went to Germany, where it was legal for me to do it. Ain't nothin wrong with holding off and having your fun later.
