I don't think she was awesome (but I am not that musically inclined) but compared to previous performances, she did great. Usually she squeals and squeaks way more.

And I am a huge kelli pickler fan, and I don't think anyone will say she has a bad voice.. and taylor swift writes a lot of her music.

Okay, I can't really speak about many pop/rock artists because I only occasionally listen to recordings and never see things live, but in my world of classical music and theater, you HAVE to sound amazing.  7 live shows a week worth of amazing.

There are super talented people out there, and that's who the record companies should go after.  I have a ton of incredible friends who could sing a million times better than her.

Heck, once Idol gets to the end, those people sound pretty incredible.  I know there's mixing going on, but things like pitch correction and incessent tweaking are not going to happen.  There's only so much to do live.

alix - The last time I saw the Stones was 20 years ago.  They could sound differently now.

She can sing. I think she sounds great when singing in a higher register (Sucrets, correct me if I'm using the wrong term.) When her voice gets lower, I think she loses it.

I've heard Kenny Chesney sing at local dives bar here in the VI.  Just him and a guitar .  He has a great voice live.

I hate to say it, but I think Beyonce is also in the category of sounding great live, if not better. I used to love her, am now largely over her, but every time I see her perform I have to respect her. Girl works it out. Even the occasional huff and puff from running around in stilettos is a welcome sound, and much better than hearing the studio recorded version of some awful lip-syncing pop star. I have a friend who keeps trying to convince me that Britney Spears is an awesome performer, which makes it okay that she lip syncs. I am not sold on that.

Oh, and Keith Urban is also really good live, IMO.

Ah, I just rewound it and watched it again.. Bon Jovi makes me giggle like a school girl. Livin on a Prayer only sounds good when I sing along..

That's it! I'm mailing myself to Canadaland.

We are going to see George Strait and Reba McEntire in March, but I doubt anyone is very jealous of me for that. I'm not a big fan of either, but FI is really excited.
