  • so how disgusting am i that this knocked out a restaurant..

"I do not want guests walking out of the restaurant feeling as if they over-indulged because of excessive cream, butter, and alcohol. I want them to feel stimulated and alert, knowing that they will be able to look forward to breakfast the following morning. Food doesn't have to be rich to taste good."

    I heart butter

  • LVB that defintely would have made that restaurant a no for us as well.  I am a stereotypical fat American who likes big portions, and butter and cream.

  • If I'm spending $200+ on dinner, there better be butter and cream!

  • Restaurant called Next? WAT?

NEXT seems to be the hottest ticket in town!  Almost as soon as tickets went up for sale online, they were being bought and RESOLD on Craigslist for $2000 and $3000!

"People criticize it without stopping to think from a business standpoint,” he says. "It’s not because we want to make more money. It’s because we’re thinking long term. .” Alinea actually makes less money since eliminating the cheaper menu. Because the 22-course meal takes four hours to consume, the restaurant can book its 18 tables just once per night, except for the handful that can be reseated by 9:30 p.m. “We can do two [seatings per table of the] $145 menus,” says Kokonas. “Which would you rather bring in? It’s a net loser for us to do the $195 menu only.”

  • A place that serves a 22-course meal? I don't think I could sit through a dinner that long.

  • Is this thread still alive?
  • Hello I am back
    Ok long story but..

She was staying with us this weekend beacuse her parents are out of town. Well she is dating this guy who just started driving and barely knows him. My FI told her that he needs to come pick her up here. She wanted him(the bf) to meet her at her EMPTY house and he could follow her here. Well my house is **really**  easy to find they just wanted some "alone" time. I am so not stupid but she is 15.

So Tanner (my FI) told her no that he HAD to meet her here. Well I was texting her the next day and she told me he WAS meeting her at her house and "What Tanner doesn't know won't hurt him."

So at that point I was like WOAH. I of course told Tanner...and he said that if the guy can't find our house that she is NOT riding with him. Well after lots of crying to her mommy and daddy on the phone they agreed to let her go to a fast food place down the road (about 5 miles). I said ok but there and back and that is IT.

Well when she left I decided to go check to see if she was there since she had already tried to lie to Tanner. Well they walked into the fast food place and 2 seconds later walked out. The just ran around town all over everywhere and so I followed to make sure she was safe.

The whole time she was texting me telling me how great the food was and how they are having so much fun at that specific place. So finally I busted her and told her to come home.

Now it is all my fault because I didn't trust her. I followed her because I needed to know she was safe. She is 15 and was in the car with a **new** driver!

So now she is badmouthing me to her parents and all her parents friends but Tanner and I think we did the right thing. She was in our care and I needed to make sure she was safe.

  • I'm not sure I love the following her around part, to be honest.  Kids do this shiit all the time (Okay, I didn't, but I was weird).  Secondly, she's 15.  She'll get over it.  Just let it blow over.
