  • I hope he realizes that putting all that crap into his body could cause him major problems one day.

  • I've definitely gained weight since our wedding (about 20 pounds, actually, eek!). He loves candy and pizza, and I love burgers and fries. And for a while, I kinda thought I could just keep up with him. However, I went off birth control in April and have since gained 14 (of that 20) pounds. It was discovered that I have a severe vitamin D deficiency, which likely contributes to the weight gain, in addition to the hormone changes. I've been doing South Beach since the week before Thanksgiving (down 9 pounds), and my husband is very supportive.

Honestly, if you're concerned about making a change and wanting him on board, talk to him about how much it means to you. All the tasty recipes can wait a few months until you're in a more stable place with weight to indulge a little. In the meantime, put him on the search for healthier recipes.

  • This was the best trick I learned after moving in with FI: Own two different sizes of dinner plates/soup bowls. We eat the same food, but by using a smaller plate for myself I end up eating less per helping.
  • FI and I both gained weight after we moved in together.  He has since lost all his PLUS more.  (He's always been bigger and recently lost 90 lbs-He is almost to his goal weight!)  I have already started eating smaller portions and avoiding snacking but am going to start working out after the new year.  Hoping to lose some before the wedding.  He now weighs less then he did in high school.  I'd like to get back to my high school weight or close! :/  We'll see!
