no kids allowed (except for yours)

I have already decided that I will be having an adult reception for many reason, a top one being that of my 115 guests, more than 1/2 of them have at least one child. However, a close friend of mine recently adopted a child with special needs. I don't think they would leave him with anyone, not to mention that I wouldn't want them to do that either. He's quite young so theo nly problem I can forsee is having him cry during the ceremony, which is not even really a problem.

The problem is how do I explain the exception for them without having about 50 other parents pissed at me? Or do I even need to? I am pretty much operating under "it's our wedding and we'll do what we want" but really, I would like to make sure everyone is pleased with our wedding and reception.

Any ideas on how to handle this?
