Invites...

If I invite someone to our engagement party do I have to invite them to the wedding? One of my BM wants to throw an engagement party for us but we are maxed on our wedding guest list.  What do you think?

Re: Invites...

  • Anyone invited to pre-wedding parties should then also be invited to the wedding.  Basically, you'd be saying, "Hi, we like you enough for you to celebrate us getting engaged, but not enough to see us get married."

  • You do have to. The exception would be if your coworkers held an office shower - it's not expected that they'll be invited to the wedding.
  • Yep, anyone invited to any pre-wedding parties have to be invited to the wedding as well.

Engagement parties are actually supposed to be a chance for the bride and groom's families to meet, so keep that in mind and keep the guest list limited to those that you know for certain will be invited to the wedding.

  • Yes, if someone is invited to the engagement party or shower they need to be invited to the wedding!
  • If you agree to the engagement party, just have her invite people who are already on your wedding guest list.
