Saturday night.

FI's watching the Carolina/Duke game and I'm about to start on HW. I have no interest in basketball.

What are you doing?

Re: Saturday night.

  • I have no idea what I'm going to do this evening.

  • Just baked cookies just so I could eat the dough.  FI and I have a system wherein i bake half of the dough for cookies for him and the rest I "save to bake later," by which I mean, i eat it a bit at a time over the next week-ish.

I was at the office until ELEVEN PM last night, so did absolutely nothing else today to make up for it.
  • I do the same thing MUNI, I usually get the premade cookie dough with the shapes that go all the way through the cookie and bake half/eat half.
  • I like the making the dough part too though.  It's satisfying. and I like the texture of the homemade dough better too.
  • For Christmas, I thought it would be nice to make cookies with Taryn, so I bought the cookie dough that was in blocks that you just break and bake.  I had visions of mommy/daughter bonding time, baking cookies, smiling...

little did I know that DH had previously baked cookies with her, and allowed her to eat the dough.  My dreams were dashed with a toddler temper tantrum because she didn't understand that she wasn't supposed to eat the dough.

  • Sometimes it's like little ones KNOW what your dream scenario is and work to twart it.

Everytime I do a princess party and the parents have decided to "surprise" a little one with my presence, it never goes as well as they imagined.

    And brownie batter is delicious.
  • Just made a deal with FI that if I tried broccoli, he'd make me a frozen strawberry margarita. The broccoli was freaking gross but at least I don't have to get up to make my margarita haha.
  • I'm watching the game. I hate both Duke and Carolina, but I fucking love college basketball. I'm hoping they both lose. And catch on fire. And stab their coaches in a knife fight after the game.

    Bummer.
  • Did anyone see this?

The part about the baby makes me sad, but the part about letting school out early pisses me the fuuck off. Why would you jeopardize those childrens' lives?
  • evening!  I'm just sitting around.  i actually got a lot done today, so that was good.  Making some quinoa for dinner.
I used to love college basketball when I was in college and for a few years after.  I haven't watched a game in years probably.  I don't even know the coach at my college...

And I'm "doing homework" (90% knotting)

I'm also trying to figure out what kind of sorcery has allowed the helium balloon in my living room to stay afloat for 3 months.  It has become an interesting experiment to see how long it lasts.

  • Oh, but I did manage to read an entire book on my Kindle between Wednesday night and this afternoon.  I rewarded myself for doing the daily cleaning zones since I didn't have to clean today (other than the standard laundry and wipe downs).  That's the first book of 2012.  Well, non-professional book anyway.

  • For you teachers, does your principal require you to turn in your plans? How often do you turn them in and how detailed do they have to be?
  • I hate lesson plans!
Our plans need to visible everyday. They can take them whenever they want. They collect them at the end of the year.

    Yep.
    Every week.
Marzano style (learning goals, assignment, assessment, vocab, etc).  It's killer since I teach so many subjects in elementary.  Well, mainly math, reading, and language arts.  We get to integrate science and social studies so she's flexible on those plans with us.

Yes, and this.  I make mine super detailed and leave them out all the time because they're also my emergency sub plans, have my reading groups and times broken down, etc.

Do y'all do the Common Board?  That is basically the lesson plans, IMO, so I think it's sort of redundant to have to have typed lesson plans visible, but I can understand legalities.  I had an injury in my room years ago and the first thing I was asked for was a hard copy of my lesson plans.

  • I have been with the same team for 3 years. I write the math lesson plans for our team and others do the rest.
My principal loves my plans, but our AP wants something different.
i would rather make my principal happy than AP.
  • I follow the Fly Lady cleaning plans.  I used to do it all on Mondays for a couple of hours when I stayed home last year, so I have had to adjust now that I'm back to work.  I don't want to spend my whole Saturday cleaning (or lesson plans but we see how that turned out this week) so I put myself on a daily schedule.  I'll post more in a sec.
