My cocktail hour pianist quitting after 10 minutes because he couldn't "work under these conditions" was a surprise, lol.

my grandfather fell while walking into church - it was one of those "another inch to the left and it would have been disaster" moments.  luckily we had some drs and nurses in attendance that got to him right away and he was ok the rest of the night. i didn't find out about all this until after the wedding ceremony was over but DH was there to see the whole thing and he was freaked out by it.

hmmmm..unexpectedWell i did have a mini breakdown when we were running a lil late and were unable to go to verona park to take pics :-(...Chris pretty much shut me down and i didnt want to hear that..but i had to suck it up and i got over it eventually...loli def didnt expect syn to be soooooo excited and happy i mean he said it was the best day ever and he kept saying over and over how we set the bar..esp bc we were the first to do it "so big"..if only he knew how big some of the ladies on theknot do it..lolI was surprised that everyone did everything they could to make things go smoothly..my family had a ccouple issues with the wait staff and i had NO idea until the next day and thats only bc i asked a question about something else.  They would have never brought it to my attention bc even with the drama "it was an amazing day"oh wait the bad...the hotel froze my bouquet..i had a special ordered bouquet..they had to rush and have a local flower shop make up something..thats why for the majority of my pics i am holding a BM bouquet.

I have 2 good and 1 bad A guest that has a band brought his guitar to Jamaica and surprised us with a song. We danced while he was singing and we felt like we were the only 2 people there while he was singing. The entire staff was coming up to him the next day and were all blown away. It was even more meaningful than the first dance. I was so nervous while we were walking to the chapel I was digging my nails into my brothers arm (he was giving me away) To take my mind off the walk through the whole resort, we started singing going to the chapel (brother and bm's) and sang all the way to the chapel door and they heard us inside as we were coming. the bad...mh has always told me the most precious photo op is the grooms face as the bride is walking down the aisle. It's something I really looked forward to...to see mh's face as I walked down. Well he wouldn't look at me and I couldn't understand why and was very disappointed. To find out later in Jamaica the reverend warns the groom not to look as the bride is coming. Chris glanced over at one point and he got yelled at!

Half way through the reception I got sick to my stomach and spend the rest of the night in and out of the bathroom. I made the best of it though. I just couldn't eat any of my dinner after intermezzo. Luckily our venue boxed everything up for me and I had it the next evening when I was feeling better.

I honestly am not really sure.  I have to say that everything went off pretty smoothly.   The only thing that pissed me off to no end was my gf texting me the morning of to tell me that were now not going to make the wedding because of some lame excuse.

To piggyback allie's post, I'm surprised I got through the day without killing my MIL. Or SIL, come to think of it.

The good- I was surprised by how accomodating everyone was. It really was my special day to feel like a pretty pretty princess. Vendors, family and friends literally bent over BACKWARDS to make my every wish come true. I literally had two bridesmaids at one point with their fingers in my mouth picking out food because they noticed it during a picture and there wasn't a toothpick around! LOL

the bad ~ ditto caketime, mostly FIL tho. he was horrendous beyond words.the good ~ how DH stuck up for me, how moved i got by FLOWERS, how cool the ketubah signing ceremony would actually be, the applause during the first dance, my friend singing for us...etc.

Einat & Caketime....Your ILs didn't talk to you guys and complained? OMG, that is so rude, I can't believe it.  Was there a reason, or do they just always suck?!

Basically, I was good enough to date but not good enough to marry as well as some nasty/horrible things said about my family.
  • edited December 2011
Oh and nope didn't say a word...when MIL got there for pics she said hi to others in the same room I was in but didn't say a word to me.  I finally said hello, wasn't letting her ruin my day, after about 45min/1 hour.  She motioned and then turned and walked away as did the rest of the family.

ok, I wasnt gonna go here but i feel like it todayduring formal photos FIL would not get in the pictures, he was very mad he couldn't give a speech at the wedding (tho not once did he ask us or tell us he really wanted to--just demanded to) basically, DH called him over for pics and in front of the entire bridal party and all my close family said "I will not get in a picture with HER" yeah and the tears were about to flow but i held it back...

The bad – I had given my MIL cash to pay of vendors and tip them but her car was broken into during the ceremony. They stole everything including the house keys and DL luckily FIL carried his set of house  keys.   I didn’t know about it till the next day but was glad they had a blast and didn’t let that ruin the day       At the reception I had 6 uninvited guests’ (neighbors that I haven’t heard from since 1999 when we moved out of JC) that heard I was getting married and decided to show up and celebrate. Damn should have hired security.

good --- i was surprised at how much i loved my bouquet. i didn't want to put it down!bad--my dad's dumbass wife. 2 weeks before the wedding i called my dad to see what color she was wearing, but she wasn't sure yet.  i ordered her a bouquet and wanted to know bc i wanted it compliment her dress. well, she demanded that her bouquet be ALL WHITE.  i said fine, but had no intentions of doing that. the BRIDE gets white...not her. so on the day of the wedding she comes in to the hotel, doesn't say hello to me or anything, and is wearing the SAME color dress as my mother. it was a very different style thank god, but my heart dropped. my mom was SO amazing throughout the planning and i felt so bad for her, but she handled it with grace. she didn't let it bother her at all.  then, my dad's wife LOST her flowers--the ones that were so important to her--and took my dad's boutennir off to hold while they walked in to the reception. later in the night she was like, dirty dancing up against my dad. it was gross.

Wow Einat....that's just wrong of your FIL...I mean it' sone day that people should put the BS to the side... Bad - My cousin's daughter brought her bf without asking....my aunt dealt with that...I did not botherGood..All of it...I had no complaints except that I wish I would of ate and tasted all that food and it ended so quickly.

Caketime and Einat- that is terrible.  I give you both credit - I don't know how well I could handle that. Caketime (too soon to tell for Einat)  has your relationship improved with IL's since wedding?
