A month or so ago I posted about my insane problem with canker sores due to my allergy to tomatoes and other acidic foods. Of course, I'm the person who complains about a food allergy but eats those foods regardless. I thought I had exhausted all of my options to help alleviate my symptoms and prevent the massive breakouts I used to have, but I found two more options that have helped me more than anything else I've ever tried so I wanted to share.
1) Rembrandt Canker Sore Toothpaste - I had read in the past that many toothpastes contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) that can aggravate canker sores, so I tried natural toothpastes like Tom's of Maine and a few others but I noticed no significant results. This Remanbrandt toothpaste, though, is incredible. I don't feel quite as fresh after brushing because it doesn't foam so I usually do two brushes just to make sure I get all of my oral nooks and crannies, haha. -
http://www.amazon.com/Rembrandt-Whitening-Canker-Toothpaste-Fluoride/dp/B000G0IQIC2) Amosan by Oral-B - This is a foaming oral wound cleanser that you're technically not supposed to use for more than 7 days (according to the warning on the package). However, I only use it right after I eat a food that I know gives me canker sores or if I feel a canker sore forming. Similar to my experiences with toothpastes, I've tried tons of oral rinses in the past, but this is the first one that has actually helped me out tremendously. -
http://www.amazon.com/Amosan-Oral-Wound-Cleanser-Powder/dp/B000GGHT52Now here's the caveat - I haven't been able to find either product in stores so I've had to order them online. Thankfully, the shipping costs are minimal so I'm going to continue using both and hope that at some point I find a store that sells them.
Hope this helps some other canker/oral sore sufferers out there!
