I'm back- LONG!

Hi ladies!

Wow, I think I last posted when I bought my dress on my birthday- work has been CRAZY! But I'm back in the swing of things now :) I thought I would post a few updates!

-RD:  FMIL (who is a little crazy, if you haven't read my posts before) has now changed the RD from Red Rocks to Maggianos. Cool with me and FI, we both love italian. I do have a slight problem in that she wants to do an elaborate slideshow, and I plan on surprising FI with a slideshow/video at the reception (the museum has a mini theatre!). I don't really care if she does one too, since it will be a different feel coming from his mom vs. me, but I didn't want the same pics twice...eh, small potatoes in the grand scheme of things!

-Reception: I still love the venue! There are a few things to cover up (the metal grate that blocks the gift store; magazine/brochure racks), but the rest of the signage really gives it a modern, museum feel! One problem: there is an awesome exhibit that will be open to my guests, but the exit (it's a big exibit) opens right onto the back of the dance floor. It's hard to explain if you haven't been to the venue, I will find a pic and include. I guess I will have to downplay it somehow!

-Photog: met with Sabrina of Simple Moments Photography on Saturday- really liked her, and she's newer in the area, so a bit cheaper. Meeting with Evergreen Studio this week- if anyone has any reviews of either company, let me know!!

-Flowers: meeting with Party Blooms next week

-Cake: tasted at edible art on Saturday- we've been clients for years, so I knew I liked their cake, and I found a design I like too! We're also meeting with Cake Lady Jill next week.

-paper: going to 3 Little Birds and Buttercup next weekend

I think that's it! I am going to post again for recs on some of this- hope everyone's doing well and I'm so glad to be back! and still looking for my online dress pic :)

Oh, I forgot about the DJ! We booked ATRG! I was so sure we'd go with Audio to Go, but they were double the price, and I met with Jill, and Mom and I really liked her! Plus, she's done our venue before- logistics are a bit crazy there because they put the DJ up in a balcony...weird I know! Anyways, very pumped about it!

Congrats on getting so much done! I am curious though, Where is your venue? We have been looking for a museum-esque space? Thanks!

haha, I can tell you why! My mom is my wedding planner, and she is an elementary school teacher- we're rushing to get everything done before she starts back to school this month! That way, we can continue to work on the little details over the weekends and breaks.

my biggest thing will be reception decor- the museum can stand on its own in many ways, but there are still those little details that are going to require major crafting! haha and i'm not crafty!

Congrats on all the checks! Way to go! :) That space sounds amazing.

As for the RD slideshow- I feel you. I have no idea what FMIL is planning because she either isn't planning anything or just isn't telling me (beyond where it is.) Slightly worried about this but I plan to figure it out this month. Can you go over the pics for her slideshow with her as she chooses them, and that way you won't have duplicates? Or maybe agree on separate themes (you already have one in mind probably, and suggest that hers be sort of a "pre-quel" or something?)

    Congrats!

Not as many people will see the RD slideshow (at least if you limit that meal to the bridal party) so no one will have it to compare to yours at the reception.  I understand your frustration in the sitiuation though.

Wouldn't it be funny if your FI was planning something similar for you!  :-)

Danasia- Levine Museum of the New South- I would def rec it so far! FI and I and our families are all from Charlotte, so it's really neat for us to be able to share the history of the region with our guests! Def a modern venue, a little whisical- what city are you looking at? I'd also look at the museums in Raleigh, they're always featured in the Knot mags, and we're taking a lot of decor inspiration from them.

Corinne & Elizabeth- that's a great idea! I probably will make sure I don't give her duplicates and vice versa. And that was another thing I thought of, that only roughly half our guests will see the RD slideshow (we're inviting both immediate families as well). I'm hoping my tech skills are better than hers & am still looking into incorporating some voiceovers/interviews!

Sarah- Thanks for responding. We are looking into having it in Raleigh. We really love, love, love the idea of a meseum wedding. I think that it adds some character to the wedding. I will definitely check them out! Thanks!

Welcome back...congrats on all the checks...especially Jill with ATRG!!!  She's our DJ, too and has been wonderful to work with thus far.

Go girl for getting sooooo much accomplished and working on those big check marks!

We are using ATRG and we are also working with Jill.  She had also worked with our venue several times and it made me very comfortable and I think they are going to do a fabulous job with our reception!  We loved her!

That's so great to hear! Jill was so knowledgable about our venue, and she's worked with my caterer (best impressions) and of course the venue coordinator many times. I liked that, because we're not using a DOC, so I'm really relying on my vendors to pull those last details together!

We aren't using a DOC either and I had my only near panic attack during this whole planning experience.  I was freaking out that I may have forgotten something important and I posted a long post with my schedule/timeline of the day and it seems I've got it figured out...lol!  I was happy to have Jill who was knowledgable about the venue and the timing because my aisle is a LOOONNGGG walk and she said she knew round about times.  I also loved the worksheet it made it so simple!  Our Pastor seems to have this ceremony thing figured out so that's another one to not worry about. =)  Good luck! If you freak out like I did...just put the pen to the paper and write everything out in detail.  As you think of things along the way that will require a person just keep adding it.  That saved me from my crazy self...haha =)
