This may be a futile suggestion given the state of the boards lately, but many of us felt like we developed great friendships here on the boards while planning.  It's been slow lately, so I'm sure it's hard to believe.  But just by stopping by often and posting, about anything, not just wedding things, a little community can form here and you can end up with a whole slew of wedding buddies.  I got lots of ideas for our wedding just by hanging out here, things I never would have thought of on my own or if I'd just popped in occasionally to ask questions.  It was nice to have a group of people to ask questions of, or vent to, who were in fairly similar life stages as me, but who are far enough removed from my life that they felt comfortable saying "No, Mary, that's a terrible idea and here's a different suggestion" or "stop making this into a bigger deal than it is".

So umm, old NC regs, come back, stop lurking

I have learned a lot from you recently married girls (got some *great* ideas that I would have never thought of!) and I hope that new girls (and myself!) stick around and keep the boards active too!  We all have to not lurk and keep things fun here!

I can't agree with this more! I used to be a huge regular over here, but ever since starting back on my degree, I've slacked off. I will say however, I've made two awesome friends that I now hang out with in real life Lol from here and others that I occassionally talk to and try to keep up with.  It really does feel like a community once you get to know each other and being able to bounce ideas around did great things for me as far as reducing planning stress.  I also agree with Mary in her saying that by having someone that isn't in my direct immediate life (at that time) it was easier for people to give more honest and vital opinions :o)

Mary always says it best!  This board was my best friend in planning my wedding....I honestly don't think I would've stayed sane without the refuge that all the wonderful knotties gave me!
