NYC Bachelorette Party Ideas

Hi girls...it's my turn for this question. Sorry I didn't pay attention to these posts in the past.

What are some good places for a bachelorette party in NYC? We are thinking about renting a limo for the night and doing dinner and bar hopping or doing a VIP table somewhere.

    Great ideas so far ladies!

Any good bars/clubs that would be fun?  Any restaurant suggestions?

What are you looking for?  Do you want cheesy bachelorette party stuff (like the Lips, Lucky Cheung's, Awesome 80s Prom type stuff), or a more serious meal?  What kind of food and how expensive (like how much should an entree be)?  What kind of club -- one that is easy to get into, or one that is still a good scene but that can be harder to get into?  Or what kinds of bars do you have in mind?  Any area in mind?

hahaha no idea to any of these questions....I'm helping my best friend out with planning her bf from colleges bach. party.  I'm going just for fun since we've become friendly as well.  I'm thinking nothing too expensive.  I don't know most of the other girls going, so I don't know what their "thing" is.  So I'm really open to any suggestions.

I know they're not looking for bars that are too "party" or "college" scene.

I had mine two weeks ago in NYC.  We went to Mama Mexico (49th and 3rd) for dinner and then to Johnny Utah's (51st between 5th and 6th aves).  The food is great at Mama Mexico and they have awesome margaritas (obviously you need to like Mexican food).  Johnny Utah's has a mechanical bull which gets pretty crazy and fun once everyone has been drinking for awhile.  We had table service.  I'm not sure what that cost bc my girls wouldn't let me give money.
Hope you have fun whatever your friend decides to do!

I'm a big fan of Italian food, so I may be a bit biased -- but some great reasonable places with good atmospheres for parties are Frank (you'd be crammed in because space is tight, but it is yummy and fun -- kind of divey hip), Malatesta (you could wave to me -- I live across the street!  super easy to get to from NJ if that's where you're coming from.  also divey hip), and Piccolo Angolo (not as hip as the others, but there are usually large groups of 20-somethings celebrating there, and the food is really yummy).  For bbq, Blue Smoke is good for groups.  And you can never go wrong with Balthazar or Pastis -- always trendy so good for girls' night, great for celeb sightings (but a little pricier).  Or if you go out on the LES, Keith McNally (owner of Balthazar and Pastis) just opened a pizzeria on the Bowery called Pulino's.  It is trendy and has a cool atmosphere, but is cheaper because it is pizza.  And Standard Grill is good and sceny (but not exactly cheap).  There are so many places though!

For barhopping, you can't go wrong on the Lower East Side.  If you decide to go the club route, SL (Simyone Lounge) or Provocateur are both good scenes, and if you have trouble getting in there are lots of other clubs nearby that range from decent to eh to bleh but are easier to get into, or you could try 675 (if the lines aren't long -- they don't do bottles or picking pretty people to get in, but still can have long lines) or Brass Monkey.

food wise, I always prefer mexican - maybe something like Dos Caminos, Rosa Mexicana, La Esquina, or my personal favorite Tortilla Flats (which is kind of small though).

I don't know what clubs are cool anymore since I stopped going a while ago. I think people go to Greenhouse, Guest House (assuming this is still around), Home, Pink Elephant.

I love Brass Monkey like uppereast suggested plus there are other clubs and bars in that area to jump around to.

Times have changed so much Lola Minnie!  Pink Elephant is now just "Pink" (I haven't been since the change, so I have no idea what else has changed or whether it is still goo), and Guest House and Home are gone!  Almost everything on West 27th Street has closed or changed since its heyday.  I think I read something about drama relating to the Jersey Shorers cast at Greenhouse recently, and I've walked by it recently and the signs are still there, so I'm pretty sure its still open -- but if they're paying for Jersey Shore appearances I don't know what that means for the club :)

Haha! See how long it's been since I was in a club! I used to go often and we went when we first started dating over 4 years ago but now I have no interest in that stuff.

Go to a Broadway Show like Mamma Mia or Chicago with the girls!  Always fun when the girls are singing Abba together!  Then late snacks and drinks at one of the rooftop lounges in the city (The Library at The Peninsula, Ava Lounge, Sky Bar, 230 Park, or one of the others).  Round out the evening with dancing someplace fun in the Village.
