I would also like to add to the topic about not being able to love another dog.  We decided to get Jasper a little sister after he had been an only dog for about a year.  We are so glad we did.  They get along so great together and keep each other company when no one else is home.  Everyone gives them both equal attention and my family loves them to pieces.  And come on now, look at those two faces...it's not possible to not love one as much as the other!

MB, I can totally see where you're coming from.  I'll confess that we're spending both Chrismas and Thanksgiving wiht my family this year, and I'm really really happy about that.  Not only because the food is better when my family is involved, but also because my in-laws always have single family friends around who are weird to talk to and awkward to exchange pointless gifts with.

I also get kind of mad at my in-laws for being so lazy about travelling and having company.  They live about an hour from my sister's house (where we do most of the holidays we spend with my family), but it is way too far for them to travel to.  Which I think is ridiculous.  I mean, when my shower was at my sister's house, not only did my MIL drag my FIL along because she couldn't travel alone, but they got a hotel.  For a shower that was in the mid-afternoon on a Sunday.  (She does not drink, so that was not the reason.)  They also would never invite my family to the holidays.  So we always have to pick one family or the other to spend holidays with, which kind of sucks.

99% of Christmas songs make me want to drive pencils in my ears.

I agree with both of you on the Christmas thing, maybe that's why I get so bummed around the holidays.  I think I borderline hate them.

Even I don't know if could handle 10 dogs!  But I think you could convince your husband for at least one more....  I'm sure the dog must get lonely when he's home by himself....
